a friend finally got me to watch paranoia agent. && wow, it's the closest spiritual successor to lain i have seen. it's not as hard to interpret, of course. but the composition, the dialogs, the editing, the mixing... there is no way it isn't even partially inspired by lain (at least in my mind)!
