If a role is publicly funded, pays £30000 a year or under, and the appointing organisation won't take CVs, then it should be illegal to request a prospective applicant to fill out a form that is over 2000 words. Organisations should also be compelled to accept generic information as a PDF document.

It is sad that the music shop PMT is closing. However, when they first arrived they eviscerated all of the local and independently-owned music shops. Now they're packing up and leaving people with almost nothing. Poorly-managed, a poor choice to let them set up shop initially.

I always reply to composers who reach out to me. It takes a long time, people can ask a lot, and people can be cheeky but I still do it - we've all been there, I know I have. But please, if you reach out to someone and ask them for something that they then give to you, make sure you say thank you.
