Something lost in the conversation about this is just how well Nintendo is doing with transmedia efforts. Super Mario Galaxy movie coming out? Galaxy 1 & 2 bundle available now. New Donkey Kong design in the first Mario movie? New 3D Donkey Kong game. Star Fox is in the movie? Star Fox game asap.

I rarely buy games at full price. I only do it for ones I’m particularly excited about. Typically results in 3ish full price purchases per year on AAA games. Most of what I play is from a sale, my backlog, or a subscription service.

I’m liking Dragon Age II quite a bit but, my god, it feels like a loading screen simulator at times.

Finished Dragon Age: Origins last night. Such a special game. Going to jump right into Dragon Age II with my imported save! Excited for this one! I’ve never actually played Dragon Age II before.

I don’t understand how people play Baldur’s Gate III in multiplayer. I tried once and it was incredibly frustrating. Just randomly getting into combat without your allies anywhere near, accidentally initiating important dialogues without everyone there. Etc.

GTA VI will make the vast majority of its money via GTA Online. I highly doubt they’ll make the barrier of entry cost $100.

Dragon Age: Origins continues to be great. Performance and small issues aside, it feels nearly perfect. It’s moved to the top of my list of games I want remastered. So many little fixes could elevate it tremendously. I picked Leliana, btw.

It was a rough start, but I’m loving Dragon Age: Origins now. Just finished the Dalish Elves questline and it was great. Gonna have to make a decision between Leliana or Morrigan as my romance soon, tho. 😮‍💨

Continuing Dragon Age: Origins and I’m feeling pretty mixed. Combat sucks, but I think a big part of that is playing on PS3 where the framerate dies. It’s hard to even control because of it and you can’t zoom out the camera on console.

Yeah, we know. The question we want answered is the *extent* to which it’s being used. I want transparency from these developers / publishers, but we’re not going to get it. The reaction to any mention of AI-usage is so negative. They’ll just avoid saying anything at all unless forced.

It’s gonna be tough for another game to overtake Pragmata as my GOTY. I can’t stop thinking about it, even after attaining the platinum trophy. Such a great game.

Controls are rough. I decided to go with motion controls after toying with a pro controller. I needed to be able to move the camera without holding L. I think the Switch version may be worse than the Wii version because of gyro controls vs motion sensor bar. Gyro has to be reset constantly.

My next game will be The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD! I loved the game when it originally released on the Wii. I remember being confused by some of the backlash for it. But I haven’t played it since then, so I’m excited to check it out through a more modern lens.

Started a Lunatic difficulty playthrough and, holy shit, I’m getting one-shotted by basic bots.

Replaying Super Mario Galaxy 2 reminds me of my exact problems with it back in the day. The almost entire removal of a true hub area is a bummer and the game feels like a ton of DLC bonus levels rather than a new game on its own. Still great, but it lacks the epic, grand feeling of the original.

So incredibly excited for Pragmata. Ever since its initial reveal in 2020(!) I’ve wanted to play it. Happy to see it receiving critical acclaim and can’t wait for the 17th!

Not gonna include it in end of year lists since it’s a replay, but Super Mario Galaxy is one of the most obvious 10 out of 10 video games ever created. Finished it today, but will keep playing for 100%. 🌌💫👑

In that awkward state where I don’t know what to play while I await Pragmata’s release. Can’t start something that might take too long to beat, but playing something too short leaves another awkward timeframe.

Gonna start up LocoRoco 2 before my PS+ Premium subscription ends! I really enjoyed the first game. Excited to see what the sequel has to offer.

Every time AI gets talked about in this context, they always say something like, “the final product reflects the creativity & expression of our development team,” without ever going into detail about what that looks like. AI will be used in games going forward. I just want *actual* transparency.

Started up Lunar 2: Eternal Blue and I’m loving it just as much as the first game so far! I knew I’d probably love this series, but it’s exceeding my expectations. Up there with the most charming games I’ve ever played.

Lunar: Silver Star Story is so good. I really love this game. It’s a little simplistic in some areas, but it feels classic in a way that other games don’t. It’s like I’m being hit by immense nostalgia despite never playing this series before.

Pokopia ended up getting real tiring pretty quickly for me. I was fully addicted for a whole day and then it completely wore off the next. I think it’s because the tasks in each area felt repetitive and the dopamine hit of getting a new Pokémon just got tired. Love the creative freedom, tho.

Having a great time playing Pokémon White 2! It’s one of the only mainline games I haven’t played, but I’ve always really enjoyed the Unova region and the original Black / White games. Picked Snivy as my starter because Serperior is GOATed!

So badly wish this released initially on all platforms. I would’ve loved to get trophies for this game.
