Every now and then I come across a song from Gary Moore or Janis Joplin that makes me think. While these don’t seem to have much in common, they’re still connected in my head. Both are masters of their craft with amazing technical abilities.

Hidden Willow A closing story for the album, thematically as well as mentally. A place where you’ll find rest and can escape all the noise, all the injustice in this world. Not for long, but at least for a while.

Colourful Girl A story of a girl outcast from society. The story of people whose work is crucial for a satisfied society but are not seen as part of that society.

Productively Broken A system that makes you fit the same shape as everyone else. It requires you to fulfil standards that were put by an authority you don’t respect. They claim an objective right way, that fails an individual’s fulfilment.

Calming Thunder Forces of nature like thunderstorms show us that we are at the mercy of nature. If we accept that, this can be very calming. Knowing for once there is no unjustified authority, as small as we are in the face of nature.

Sweet Nature Too often we see ourselves as masters of the environment, but eventually we’ll have to face the consequences. We get hit by the revenge of nature. A justified revenge by a world that can be so beautiful if we treat it with respect and know our place in it.

Little Flower This is not a message to change something. It’s the intro perspective of having found someone to give you comfort. The fact that another person’s affection isn’t something you can own and take with you. It’s nothing you can request, you can only earn it by respecting someone.

Morbid Beauty The title track sets the theme for most of the topics. Perfection is often associated with beauty, but in reality, imperfections make something interesting. If perfection means becoming indistinguishable, then it’s nothing desirable.

Maybe Tomorrow Struggle can come from within but also from external factors. We’ve built a society that isolates those who can’t cope, while the systems that contribute to their pain fail to offer real support.

Tears of an Angel Sometimes we project our longing for help onto someone else — creating an illusion that brings comfort, but also confusion. Tears of an Angel captures the inner conflict between receiving or accepting help and realizing that the one who can help you most is you yourself.

Fairy Lights Disruption Another instrumental that tries to capture a whole different feeling. For those who find large gatherings overwhelming, there's a quiet relief when night begins to fall and slowly absorbs the noise. At first, you just feel like you can finally calm down.

Too Tough Have you ever seen a close friend flee from a moment that felt too much? Have you seen that friend in a situation where they felt unwatched and let their guard down? That moment of vulnerability where you realise your friend’s needs, the urge to help knowing it’s hard to get through.

Above Everything A song without lyrics, but not without a message. This minimalist instrumental uses the bare essentials to evoke the feeling of flight — of rising above the noise, where the world blurs and nothing disturbs your inner peace.

So here is a little teaser for my new album. I don’t want you to get your hopes up, since I’m not doing this full-time, it will take a while until everything is finished. But the majority of the album I’m done writing, and I’m hoping to start recording in the fall.

The last of Hidden Willow. For me, a place to come back to and find peace for a little time. Weeping willows, some kind of protective roof for me. That’s what I tried to recreate with the animation.

Let’s get to my favourite song from my album, Colourful Girl. Probably the one with the most evolved songwriting skills. The story is about a broken girl suffering from the form our society tries to push her into. A person we would rather look away from or label as crazy than interact with.

So here’s another attempt at a feature in Blender I didn’t try before. But it’s also another one where it didn’t work out quite the way I hoped. For Productively Broken I was thinking of something collapsing under a never-ending load of pressure.

Now it gets a little more experimental. I have to admit the quality suffered a little bit, but I pushed my knowledge and learned something new. For Calming Thunder, I actually had a few ideas for the animation, but most were too complex for my abilities.

For Sweet Nature, I reused the skull from Morbid Beauty, polished it a little bit, and added a few features. I also tried a new feature in Blender, the cloth simulation. The image I tried to create was the death of the Earth caused by humans. All from the perspective of the Earth.

So with this one for Little Flower, I didn’t push forward with any skill particularly. I rather tried to experiment with the ones I learned until then. The result might not hold up to the standards I have now, but it still shows what I had in mind.

With Morbid Beauty, we get to the title track of the album and also the longest. This was my first step towards progressive rock, not just because of the length of the song but because of the structure. It was more or less obvious to use the cover for the album as a basis for the animation.

Last time I said, Tears Of An Angel was one of the most important songs for me. Maybe Tomorrow is too, but in a different way. This is the song and mainly the lyrics I was most nervous about releasing.

So let’s step up the game a little bit. Tears Of An Angel was a song that was very important to me. This might be the biggest jump in quality for the animations. I had something in mind like the style of The Little Prince.

Back to the animations. With Fairy Lights Disruption, I did my first steps with world building. The vibe of the song was a nice summer night with fairy lights that occasionally flicker. That’s what I tried to capture.

Too Tough is the only song that doesn’t have its own animation. But this is a great opportunity to show how these animations evolve. At the beginning, there is an idea that is often beyond the skills I have to actually implement it in an animation.

You might have already seen the videos I posted on YouTube. They are not too complex, but like my songs, you’ll see a learning curve over time. I’m going to post all the animations I made using Blender piece by piece. And you’ll find a little explanation of the idea.
