First impressions of Miyano’s new album are largely how has he not had a collection released in so long that Quiet Explosion and Sing a Song Together ended up here. There’s definitely a noticeable difference in direction for the songs written prior to Face and those for this album.

Probably going to take it easy this week and catch up with stuff I missed over the weekend. I don’t know if I want to know how many YouTube videos I need to watch to catch up… nor anime… I did at least watch some of my J-dramas while away and I’ve only missed yesterday’s Yoasobi at least. ^^;

I’ve read like half of Bookstore Girls now and at first I figured it was going to be a lot of relationship drama since it sets up that way, actually the book lover / book sellers aspect kicked in not long after and has been a very engrossing read.

I finished the book I brought on the trip up to Edinburgh so that justifies me buying several more to take home, right? Also cool thing, all written by female authors which was not intentional on my part but a nice coincidence. (None of these were the book I went looking for tho…)

Every time someone suggests using chatGPT to help them or someone else with their language questions I get so annoyed by the prospect of them never learning anything because they’re just fed inaccurate information. It’s one thing if someone bothers to verify the answer, but absolutely no one is.

Gachiakuta and Tougen Anki are probably the shows I flip flop on liking or not the most this season. I like both sets of characters, but sometimes the darkness of their stories is just too much I think.

I carved out the two hours to listen to Mamoru Miyano’s All Night Nippon 0 show. It was really great, a different atmosphere to his own show but still familiar and a lot of fun. You could tell how excited and honoured he was to do it. I hope they’ll let him host again in the future!

Gacha Lvl9999 anime has done nothing to make me want to go back to the source material, but I do appreciate the talent of the team working on this adaptation and they have done a fantastic job with elevating it. Also nice hearing Okamoto cast as a villain again, been awhile and he plays those well!

This will only get worse before it gets better and I hope readers won’t just settle for it. Don’t buy the AI slop, don’t read it, don’t support it. if you really are too impatient to wait for translations then please just consider learning the language. Do not turn to AI.

October books arrived, an effort was made to try and catch up with some ongoing stuff I’ve been following. Vampire Knight finally got reprinted, just in time for final volume in December. Also accidentally ordered 9 but not 8 for Phantom of the Idol and I can’t merge it into any existing orders…

Read the first volume of K-9, can definitely see why the Wind Breaker mangaka was recommending it. Liked it, will definitely carry on. This supernatural crime drama stuff is right up my street lately.

Against better judgment I started the Strobe Edge drama (look I’m weak to a Masaru Yokoyama romance drama soundtrack okay). I never read it since Io Sakisaka’s older stuff tends to annoy me (we ignore I read all of and then watched the anime / drama for Ao Haru Ride). But maybe I will be wrong!

I've been pretty hmmm about Scarlet for a while, mostly due to the direction of Hosoda's work after Wolf Children, but also the CG for this one. But hearing the cast commentary, well, I'm a little more convinced it might be good.

Opened up my volume 1 of K-9: Public Security Bureau, Division 9 and found a postcard inside. Wasn’t expecting any bonuses since by the time I bought this volume 2 was already out, so that was nice~

No one really thought much of Victoria’s Electric Coffin, but it was in GFantasy and I came to love Tajima’s art and characters. It wasn’t doing anything particularly original, but it wasn’t doing anything wrong either. After Marchen probably would have been a better series to debut in English tho.

Started reading Lulu no Hell House, by Ikuno Tajima. Expected to be distracted by learning estate agent vocab instead trying to work out if this is a stealth pseudo sequel to Victoria’s Electric Coffin. Seems like a modern day New York,already saw one reference to Victoria’s time period and namesake

Even tho I wasn’t at work today (for a change), I still ended up doing admin-y things at home. But I watched Seiyu to Yoasobi (which was fun!), listened to Miyano’s radio show (he was in top form this week!) and watched this weeks HeroAca. So, I still feel pretty refreshed.

Reading volume 1 of You Can’t Bluff the Sharp-Eyed Sister. Immediately off the bat you’d recognise this as a Natsu Hyuuga story even if you didn’t know. Gremlin MC being pulled into a situation she _really_ doesn’t care about by a noble far too interested in her.

My copy of Retrograde by Osamu Dazai arrived today. Been really looking forward to reading this one. Almost done with You Can’t See the Snow, so I’ll start it after that.

I read Call of the Night The Paradise Arc, which did absolutely nothing to fix any of my issues with the ending of the main series but did feature my favourite character so I’m relatively satisfied. I read Kotoyama’s short story collection after and am convinced that they just cannot land endings.

I forgot to cancel my English bookwalker subscription for The Summer Hikaru Died, so ended up with vol 6 today. Luckily hadn't bought any volumes in JP yet. ^^; (the plan had been to swap languages and catch up since I'm buying it digitally either way)

You’d have thought Aqua would be well versed in chuni having listened to Megumin for so long, but turns out Shadow is too much even for her.

It’s hard to take Atsuhiro Inukai seriously in this police procedural while he’s also playing the long suffering MC of A Man Who Defies the World of BL which is back for final season.
