Hey All, Thanks for your patience during my recent silence/lack of updates! It's the Holidays and things have been a bit hectic around the house. I've also been relearning CSP on a new device, courtesy of my amazing Mother, and have been doing some research and brainstorming for possible projects.

CW: Furry A fairly different approach to art from my more academic/traditional style, this piece was drawn as a late-night gift for my roommate when she was having a particularly rough time. Her usual 'sona is a bunny, but she often refers to herself as a dog, & a beagle fit her on-the-go energy.

So I know I say this stuff somewhat regularly, but that is in part because I think this stuff is important to mention. Temperature and humidity fluctuations - among other natural occurrences - impact the human body and mind. Arthritis and seasonal illness may get the spotlight in cold months...

Going back through the archives and found this little piece today. This is one I might revisit and redesign at some point - a nod to Sandberg's "Fog". It was a sketchbook piece, but honestly lacked the depth I was originally planning on. Still, the notion appeals to me.

A reminder that it is the season for SAD (for those in the Northern Hemisphere), and that it's important to be gentle with yourself if you find yourself experiencing mental or physical health symptoms as a result. Without you, the output means nothing - you are more important, always.

An artistic nude in reductive charcoal from years back, during my figure drawing course days. I'm not super thrilled with the saturation in parts of this, but I think that's one of the perks of looking back at old pieces - and a benefit for folks who know how to merge traditional and digital art.

A mixed media piece I did for a friend a few years back. There are some aspects I would modify at this point if I had an opportunity, but overall I'm pleased with the results. IIRC, it was a birthday gift for another friend of theirs. It was a fun little project to work on at the time. :)

A character I ran for a Tephra campaign that @mikalana.bsky.social GM'd once upon a time. Half Mountain-Goat, half standard goat Satyr - "I" was born and raised under less than savory circumstances, used as a messenger, and then fought her way to legal freedom.

Just a quick note to all our chronic pain and illness friends - for those in the Northern hemisphere, the October Slide is here. That means extra symptom triggers and a need for more kindness toward yourself. You are valuable because you exist; your output is not the measure of your worth. You are.

Also, if you are an #artist and are 18 or older, please feel free to poke me. I've built my follow list to be primarily artists, because I love seeing everything we all make, but that doesn't mean that absolutely everyone has crossed my feed. I'm sure there are more than 5k of us on here.

CW: Giant ever-ravenous hivemind space bugs - spider edition Not your typical drawn or painted piece, but definitely one I'm proud of. My partner has some Tyranids they put together, and this Psychophage was my first ever go at painting and basing a Warhammer model. Their name is Smopey.

While a white rose is generally associated with The Fool, I wanted to consider white Narcissus and their potential as a symbol, given reversed meanings and the weight that each symbol carries. Even if I don't use these, some quick sketch references for the visual library can't ever hurt.

If anyone ever tries to tell you that you're not an artist, please keep in mind that some of the most basic foundational practices for artists are literally drawing lines, circles, c's, s's, and practicing various shading techniques. If you work on your art, you are an artist.

Another piece from my Figure Drawing days. Ink is always an interesting medium to play with, especially since there are various ways to apply it. I remember loving the way it toned out as I pulled more water through it, and how it moved on the page. This was by far one of my favorite classes. ~2018

I have been methodically teaching myself about cartomancy for months now, and have delved so far into this subject that I have a box of beautiful decks I sometimes play with. I've been debating taking the notes I collect and writing a book - or working on a deck of my own. A passion project.

@mikalana.bsky.social and @trenchbunny.bsky.social went digging through our basement storage for my art supplies yesterday, and found a couple of my old portfolios. So here's a picture I did in the same year as the others, and one of the few still lifes I've lost myself in. Hope you like!

Giraffe-a-raffe. Gouache painting completed several years ago, as a gift for my Mother.

Similar to Mr. Bones, this piece is from nearly a decade ago. The oil pastels weren't particularly good, but neither was my technique in using them at the time. I have an Aunt who is quite fond of owls and the color pink, so this was a gift for her. Not great for r/g colorblindness. Oops.

I figured it might be good to at least post something here-and-there. Meet Mr. Bones - a reductive charcoal piece I completed in my Figure Drawing course back in... 2018? Something like that. Mr. Bones is one of my favorite pieces from that time period, and holds a special place in my heart. 🌌🎴🐈
