This decision to water down sanctions on Russia is an utter betrayal of the fighting men and women of Ukraine. Their brave fighters are making huge sacrifices every day and civilians are facing aerial bombardment from Russia. The UK Government must reverse these weak waivers.

It is clear that our victories in seats like Caithness, Sutherland and Ross and Strathkelvin and Bearsden denied John Swinney the majority he craved. We are now raring to go to deliver change with fairness at its heart for our constituents.

This vote is an opportunity to make the case for a liberal vision of Scotland. Scottish Liberal Democrats want a government that is focused every single day on fixing the NHS, on addressing the cost-of-living crisis, on getting Scottish education back to its best.

We secured support from MSPs in the last parliament for an independent review of maternity services in Caithness. That review has yet to be confirmed. It must include an independent chair from outside NHS Highland’s leadership and beyond Scottish Government oversight.

Scotland has so much going for it, but right now under the SNP, it feels like our country simply isn’t working. Scotland needs change with fairness at its heart. On 7 May you can vote for it by backing the Scottish Liberal Democrats on the peach-coloured regional ballot.

At the start of this campaign I visited Margaret MacGill, who had been stuck in hospital for over a year despite being well enough to go home. John Swinney should apologise to every one of the 2,000 people stuck in hospital on any given night because of a lack of care packages.

The Scottish Liberal Democrats will fight any attempt to introduce fracking in Scotland. It would be a step backwards when investment should focus on renewables, home insulation and creating good green jobs.

Our plan to transfer ScotWind rental incomes to local councils is a key part of overhauling the outdated rules on community benefit. We should be making this revenue deliver for people in the areas which generate so much of Scotland’s energy wealth.

These documents show in black and white that the Scottish Government muscled in. The SNP Government’s handling of this issue stinks. They’re more concerned with keeping these figures out of the public domain than caring for our rivers, lochs and beaches.

The Scottish school estate is in a right state. If we want teachers to get on with teaching the next generation the skills that they will need, then we need to provide them with the classrooms and facilities they need to do that job.

We need to ramp up our industrial base and get serious about Scotland’s defences. The world has become a more dangerous place, but if handled correctly, this can be an opportunity for Scottish jobs and Scottish industry.

The Scottish Liberal Democrats are fully committed to rebuilding the Gilbert Bain Hospital in Lerwick. Whereas the SNP are prioritising a day one independence vote instead. Communities outside the central belt, like Shetland, are an afterthought to this SNP government.
