A dignified transfer ceremony was held today for U.S. Army Private First-Class Lawrence Richard Beard. He was captured and died as a prisoner of war during WWII in Nov. 1942. PFC Beard is a Westminster, Maryland native. His nephew and niece attended today's ceremony.

A warm welcome at Gate A11! Volunteers, airport workers and travelers, even the Air Force Women's Volleyball team, welcomed Rocky Mountain Honor Flight veterans this afternoon after the veterans' arrival. The veterans will spend the next couple days visiting memorials across our region.

New route just announced! Southwest Airlines to debut service from BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport to St. Thomas on February 7.

We hosted students today from the National Summer Transportation Institute at Morgan State University. Our Executive Director/CEO Shannetta Griffin spoke to the group and took part in Q&A. Later, the students embarked on an airfield tour to learn about airport operations and engineering.

On this date in 1950, we welcomed our first scheduled landing of a commercial aircraft. A plaque commemorating the arrival from Eastern Airlines is displayed on the Maryland Aviation History wall in our D/E Connector. #BWI75

The Airplay Zone in our D/E Connector is a big hit with some of our youngest travelers. The area offers kids plenty of fun while parents can enjoy comfy seating and power outlets to recharge devices. We also have a play area in our Observation Gallery.
