The ACM Digital Library, where a LOT of computing-related research is published (I'd say at least 75% of my own publications), is now not only providing (without consent of the authors and without opt-in by readers) AI-generated summaries of papers, but they appear as the *default* over abstracts.

Curious what people think of bidding on papers to review for a conference. I always find this to be an unnecessary waste of time. You know my expertise and my conflicts, assign me appropriate papers, don't make me click more buttons. Agree? Disagree?

My worldview is being challenged The reviews received for my ICLR submission are higher quality than reviews I received for my SIGGRAPH and SIGGRAPH Asia submissions. All reviewers seemed to have actually read the paper and articulated their (reasonable) concerns in a constructive format.

I am boycotting #SIGGRAPHAsia 2026 because it will be in Malaysia, where there are serious safety concerns for the LGBTQ+ members of our community, thereby excluding them. Below is my response to being invited to serve on the technical papers committee at SIGGRAPH Asia 2026 (in Malaysia) TLDR It's a no.

I think my ideal technical talk length on a single topic is 15 minutes. Enough time to get a good sketch of the method but not so much that my attention wanders. After that I really just need to sit with the paper to have any hope of understanding.

I could not be more disappointed in the management of SIGGRAPH for this, the most spineless of PR blog posts. Count me as someone who will not have their name on any submission to SIGAsia 2026. If enough of us withhold the content they sorely need, maybe next time they will engage more earnestly.
