This week, while a Michelangelo sketch of a foot was sold for £16.9m, I was exploring the textures of bubbles and metallic leaf. The “gold” leaf sheets were 86% copper/14% zinc. Copper exposed to oxygen develops Verdigris, a green patina. So I will be sealing the pieces with varnish! #gold
