Was "Maresca's tweak" two moments of individual brilliance and to then create very little else?

Good character second half. A worldie freekick and a defensive howler from a punt up the pitch tell me it's nothing to do with the bloke in the dug out but fair play to the team.

The standard in this match has been rough and tumble so it's funny that it's suddenly a stonewall penalty when a Chelsea player finally give as good as they get. Commentators will be saying "games gone" if that penalty was given down the other end

Fofana Chalobah Cucurella James Caicedo Neto All shown the physicality and mentality to fight in the Premier League. Palmer obviously can perform in any match. Gusto, Garnacho the jury's out on their ability to compete with intensity. Pedro hasn't looked interested for weeks.

I'm not saying Maresca is the only problem at Chelsea, but right now he's the biggest, most obvious and the easiest to fix.

When we were good, and had proper managers, we'd get through the first 20 minutes in these fixtures, quiet the crowd and earn the right to play. Under this clown we've got the CB dribbling in his own half because that's the philosophy.

Why's he pretending to be injured while we nearly go 2-0 down 😂 got a squad of whoppers

I can never get onboard with the risks this style of play take at the back. The risk just does not outweigh the reward. Once again, if a team presses us well we fall apart.

Reckon Maresca goes quite safe again tomorrow, got a horrible feeling James won't start. Think he'll go Sanchez Gusto Fofana Chalobah Cucurella Caicedo Fernandez Neto Palmer Garnacho Pedro

Oh no, our SDs will think he's actually a genius now if City rate him. It's Cucurella all over again

Buying another £100m+ midfielder instead of admitting you and the manager you've hired are clueless is soooooo WinStewart

Even when we win games, we're clinging on. These are a League 1 team and we're backs against the wall. When did we last win a game comfortably (against 11 men)

Good finish from Garnacho for a change. He's clearly our second most talented winger, just a shame he's detestable.

The Athletic's Chelsea correspondents will be saying this is proof that the squad isn't good enough to play "Maresca ball" or something won't they

It's terrifying the lack of an attacking plan we have when a team just sits off us.

The Sporting Directors' final act should be to sack Maresca before they resign

Today was the type of game we do generally win. Against a back 4, and a team that can't press particularly well. We've just got too much speed for that Everton team to cope with. Real test is next weekend away at Newcastle.

Hopefully with a new manager next season, Chelsea can go in with Chalobah, Fofana, Colwill, Acheampong and whichever of Anselmino/Sarr is best Sell Tosin, Badiashile, Disasi

Pretty decent performance all-round without being brilliant. Two CBs look good together. Enzo Fernandez though... He can't handle the physicality of the Premier League and successive managers asking him to be Frank Lampard isn't helping him

I'm baffled that Estevao is seemingly 4th choice on the wing. The only one of the four with world class ability.

Estevao on the bench again tells you everything you need to know about this fella. Imagine Barcelona leaving Yamal on the bench constantly

We mustn't forget that Colwill is injured and it's impossible to coach a coherent attack without him and Lavia "progressing the ball"

I hate the "strategy" of buying young players to flip for a profit - but even if you accept that as a strategy, you still need a good coach to improve the players and increase their value. Who has Maresca improved again? Which young players are now worth more than they were bought for?

Enzo Fernandez played his best football as a deep lying passer under Potter and has been distinctly average since Pochettino and now Maresca tried to make him box-to-box despite his inability to run

I'm sure this is another example of why Chelsea's squad isn't good enough to beat a team with a fraction of the resources rather than evidence that we've got a terrible coach

Another fantastic half of sterile football coached by Enzo Maresca. Really making use of the hundreds of millions worth of attackers at his disposal.

I'd be delighted to be proved wrong, but I can't see Chelsea ever competing for a title under Maresca. His arrogance stops him from developing beyond an average manager. Matches like last night should never be as one-sided as it was given the relative squads each manager had.

That from Gyokeres is the exact same as the Caicedo tackle in terms of "excessive force" but it just doesn't *feel* like a red card and that's why VAR is crap
