Another picture of my laser cart. Honestly for a 20W diode laser this has done everything I’ve needed so far. I do need to put some positive location stops in. But the build has turned out well and this laser is good for a basic entry level machine. #makersky #woodworking

Basic woodworking/guy math says that this laser cart only cost me $25 to make because most of it is scraps from other projects or old projects. Had to buy a 2x12 and casters. Simple design with future storage in mind (project for a later date). #woodworking #makersky

I love always growing in my skills and practice. In this case. I finally made my own 2x4s out of a 2x12s 😂. I didn’t have time to go to my normal lumber source, so instead of dealing with the twisted 2x4s, I dealt with a slightly twisted 2x12 where most of the twist came out. #woodworking #makersky

I think one of my issues is that I have to many things I want to do. I mostly focus on 3 or so things. But sometimes one of projects put on the shelf for later just jumps down into my brain. Currently that is a RTS type game idea I had. Maybe I need to just take 10 min and brain dump the ideas.

Just one look at our stop in Dublin. The long hall at the Trinity college while seeing the book of kells was pretty cool.

When you get back to doing video research and writing and find a full script you wrote but never recorded a video on......what a year its been haha.

Nothing like making saw dust on a Saturday. This bag was empty when I started planing. Was cleaning up some hard maple.

I just finished rewatching Chernobyl for the 4th or 5th time. I am surprised at the rewatch value because I have yet to be able to get to a rewatch point for The Pitt.

I ended up getting a more entry level 20W diode laser. But in true #makersky fashion, I have just created a whole new set of side projects for myself. I assembled it last night and did a test cut. It worked way better than I expected and is going to get me out of some more jams. #laser #woodworking

Welcome to Project Friday! Each week I start Project Friday off asking people new to #makersky to introduce themselves to others who have found it and tell us a little bit about yourself! I make a lot of functional projects right now for my side business. #woodworking #3dprinting #crossstich

Step 3 was to put the plate into a scrap piece of plywood. And let me tell you it worked amazingly well. This is exactly what I needed and I wish I had made it sooner. This is only V1 so it will be made more useful but I needed to trim parts. #makersky #woodworking #3dprinting

Step 2 is adding the router plate to the fixed base on the trim router. Overall the mounting holes lined up very well and the plate fit nicely on the router. Using my #3dprinter to do this I was able to save $30-$60 instead of buying one. Next step is to test. #makersky #woodworking

Current project? Making a makeshift router table for my trim router. I saw makeshift because I’m using material on hand right now until making a more stable base. Step 1? Router plate to mount to my fixed base. Now for the board it will sit in. #makersky #woodworking #3Dprinting

A nice action shot from some of the wasteboard flattening. It was very satisfying to watch just a few thousands of an inch coming off at a time. The thickness of a sheet or two of paper. The blue tape is covering a hole in the dust collection hose. #makersky #woodworking #cncmachining

Had a break between orders today to go ahead and flatten the wasteboard on my router. I took off around 0.010” of material. I used 0.001” as my DOC but did a cut at Z0 zeroed where I typically do. Slight lines present but it’s an older bit of mine. #makersky #woodworking #machining #cncrouter

So I saw a video from @morleykert.bsky.social yesterday and he had said something that stuck out to me. Now it wasn't ground breaking or new in that sense, but it was about reducing friction. It was one of those times where you hear the right thing at the right time. And in this case removing

Tested out my fixture this week. Overall worked as intended but have a short list of improvements on the next iteration. The hold downs work but loosen too easily. I also want to make it more adjustable for variables in the work pieces. #woodworking #cncmachining
