Thinking about it, I kinda have to thank RuneScape’s Dungeoneering skill for getting me into rogue-likes when I was younger. It certainly primed me to know how to play dungeon crawlers like PMD. It had a whole ice dungeon setting around it as well, oddly lines up with Gates’ whole thing, too… hmm…

The best kind of fanfiction for me is canon-adjacent material that makes me appreciate the original story in a new angle. Even though it isn’t canon, it’s no reason for stopping me from adding it to a replay of that game in my mind, especially when it makes emotional moments hit harder ^w^

With all these new mega evos coming out, I think it’d be a fun idea that they would be discovered in lore post-PSMD. Imagine Espurr, after evolving into Meowstic, using an Awakening Emera expecting the usual status, but now she’s got a new form instead! That would be so cool!

I imagine that any merchant that sells clothing that’s not easily wearable in the PMD world has got to be a pretty good tailor. With all the many different body types out there, a good coat’s gotta fit bipedals, quadrupeds, and everything that’s neither. Not to mention the size differences, too!

I think an interesting thing that could be explored in PMD is how a former human would experience sensations that would normally harm their old body. A fire type that can’t be burnt by flame. A water type that can’t drown. A electric type only tickled by lightning. Would it feel oddly liberating?

What if the PMD world summoned humans for reasons other than just saving the world, and the ones that we’ve been playing for each game are the only notable and well known ones? It would explain why there’s so many different Hero and Partner starters, they’re just a retelling of those same stories.

Water - Clay Air - Stone Grass - Wood Sand - Glass Mist - Metal Just thinking about what types of pottery would be commonly used in each continent in the PMD world. Weird world building detail? Nonsense! If you don’t know what type of tableware Pokemon use across the world, what’s the point?

The main thing I appreciate about PMD’s world design is that it doesn’t follow the traditional setting that you see in any typical fantasy. Each settlement has its own unique architecture and doesn’t have the signifiers of something like medieval times. There’s a timelessness to them because of it.

It’s said that the Swords of Justice were formed because of the damage caused by two warring human factions. But, in a world where humans don’t exist, such events could never have happened. Is this why Virizion and Keldeo are the only ones present in Gates? They just never met the other two?

The Partner from Gates is the best kind of friend you can ask for, aren’t they? Kind, hopeful, sees the best in everyone… They mostly figured out what they want to do in the world before they met the Hero, a very unique thing compared to other Partners. Without them, Paradise wouldn’t be possible.

My personal favorite of the franchise! Most of it’s because of the well rounded cast, you really get to know and bond with them! If this game had another title, it’d be Everyone Needs Therapy XD It’s always going to be a thematically relevant story, too! Especially in times like these.

Gates thought! We all know Pokemon are able to build their own towns, but I believe this is the first time in the series where infrastructure is built outside of those places! Look at that stonework! It makes sense too! After all, Noe Town, a port town, lies south of Post Town on this path!

A human is sent to the PMD world to save it, and it seems like they’re there for less than a year before it’s resolved. But since they come back and stay after the whole ordeal is over, they got so much time ahead of them. They can live full lives! What would they do with that much time?

Sometimes I think about how the Seven Treasures in Explorers are all Legendary themed instruments, which really interests me. The question is, who exactly made them and why are they accessed only through Secret Rank missions? That means they could be in collaboration with the Federation… hm…
