I worked in public health for many years. It’s so different now—especially hospital care. The last time (years ago) that I had surgery the care absolutely sucked to be blunt.

Truth! My grandparents were immigrants from Czechoslovakia who moved to Ohio, and opened a pharmacy. It was run for over 50 years by my grandfather, uncles, and father.

Our bluebird, Carrie, checks out 1 egg that she laid yesterday. She sat on the nest with the egg for a short while. Ta-da! Carrie laid her second egg! In her last clutch she had 5 eggs, and all 5 fledglings safely flew away 17 days later with Carrie and Doug close by and still feeding them.

Bluebird female Carrie is sitting on the nest that she and Doug completed yesterday. Will there be an egg today? Yes! Egg number one is laid. 💙 Doug brings a beak full of meal worms for Carrie, but she’s flying around so he just sits on the top of the cage. Video of Doug’s attempt in comments.

Something cheerful to end the day. Our bluebird male, Doug, checks out the nest that he and Carrie built. It’s their second nest this season. They have 5 fledglings that they are still feeding. I’ll post a picture of the nest in the comments. We have a nest cam so no disturbing the birds. 💙

I’m jealous that we don’t have a Mayor Mamdani. He’s the best!
