It's been a busy few months at BanktheFood HQ.  We now have 103,004 registered app users, donating to more than 570 community food banks! The food banks tell us that the app is making a real difference in their mission to help those in need in your community. 🙏 We couldn't do it without you.

As I said to BBCBreakfast government *isn’t* proposing reform. It’s cuts. The DWP has a genuine plan for reform to help more people get support, healthcare & work when they can. Treasury is driving the opposite. Cruel & counterproductive cuts for short term savings.

Many thanks to BBC Breakfast for giving me the chance to discuss why rumoured huge cuts to disability support would be cruel & counterproductive. The system urgently needs reform - but these cuts will do nothing but increase hunger & hardship and derail plans to boost employment.

Almost 1 in 5 people claiming Universal Credit and disability payments have used a food bank in the last month. Proposed cuts to disability support risk driving more people to food banks. As my MP, James Wild, will you ask the PM to rethink these cuts?

🚨 BREAKING: The UK government has frozen housing benefit. Housing benefit is already not keeping up with sky-rocketing rents, leaving people struggling to afford to live. To ensure everyone can afford a warm, safe home the government must also increase Local Housing Allowance in line with rents.

During 2024, King's Lynn Foodbank distributed 6527 food parcels. This is 1.6% fewer than in 2023, which is brilliant. But it's still too many. We're working together with Trussell and other organisations to ensure no one needs a food bank to survive.

Our stocks are running a bit low after the festive period. If you’re heading to the shops this week, we would love it if you could pick up an extra item or two to donate to us - we urgently need tinned meat and teabags. We have collection points in Morrisons, Sainsburys, Tesco and Asda. Thank you. 💚

🚨 Over 1.4 MILLION emergency food parcels were provided by food banks in our community in just 6 months. This is 69% higher than the same period 5 years ago. This can't go on and we refuse to stand by while so many of us are pushed to the brink, without enough money to live on.

The wind and rain on Saturday evening didn't stop there being a full house listening to King's Lynn Community Choir at St Nicholas Chapel in aid of King's Lynn Foodbank and the Blood Bikes. Thanks to everyone who was involved - absolutely smashing effort, and utterly brilliant music and singing!!
