Did you see the bright light in the sky across New Mexico tonight? It was a SpaceX rocket launch from California. The "jellyfish" effect many people saw was due to the rocket's exhaust plume, high in the atmosphere, catching sunlight. Video courtesy of Amadee Chavez.

December 2025 was the warmest on record for Albuquerque, 4.8º warmer than the next warmest December (1950). It stands out most when you compare it to previous Decembers and when you look at average temperatures over the year. It's startling. #NMwx

Check out the snow in southeast New Mexico! This satellite loop shows the snow from the Sacramento Mountains to the Texas state line. There is also fog in the Pecos River valley, clouds from the south, and high clouds streaming in from the west. Highest snowfall total was 10.2" in Carlsbad. #NMwx

Snow will continue across parts of southern New Mexico until late Monday night. Totals are lower for Roswell, Ruidoso, and south-central New Mexico. However, impacts from the snow is still expected through tonight for the Sacramento Mountains and the rest of southeast New Mexico.

A strong cold front will bring snow to southern New Mexico late tonight through early Tuesday morning. Blizzard conditions are possible in the Guadalupe Mountains. 2-7" of snow is likely in the Sacramentos, with 1-4" across southeast New Mexico, and a trace to 1" in south-central.

Amazing. Albuquerque set a record warm low temperature of 46º on Saturday, December 27. Why is this so amazing? 46º is our normal *high* temperature for this time of year, and it tied for the warmest low temperature ever recorded in December. #NMwx

A magnitude 3.5 earthquake rumbled the ground in northern New Mexico Monday morning! The earthquake happened at 11:02 AM west of Heron Lake and southwest of Chama.
