Hornsea Mere 31st May, ringed Osprey over my head. Turns out to be Gilshiel, (1B7), a 2 year old male from Kielder, was seen in Senegal in the winter and this is it's first sighting in the UK since fledging. Very happy with that news.

Arguably the worst photos of Rail-babbler ever, but boy did they make me smile after 6 days looking for it in Taman Negara, Malaysia. A celebratory muffin in the forest was in order. Then Malaysian Blue-banded Kingfisher on the walk back... A good sweaty day done..

Whiteheads Spiderhunter, a Bornean endemic in Kinabalu NP today, after several days trying in 2013 and thus week. Days like this remind me why we do what we do as birders.. Superb...

A dull rainy day in a Borneo rainforest, brightened up by 1st an immature female, then an adult female, and finally, the main event, a stunning adult male Bornean Peacock-Pheasant. Worth the soaking trek up and down...

12 hours of waiting yesterday, but only female Bulwers Pheasants, Red-breasted and Crested Partridges. Today was a new day when this splendid male Bulwers Pheasant came in at 9am. Worth 15 hours of anyone's time. Mythical !!!

Tough, but rewarding, day catching up with Turquoise-throated Barbet at Khao Luang N.P. (Poor photos due to height of trees and inaccessibility of viewing) !! This bird is restricted to a very small area of central peninsula Thailand. Easier was a Spotted Wood Owl before dusk two days ago

A mega fix of Nicobar Pigeons on the Similan Islands, southern coastal Thailand, today. The last one appears to have had it's nails done for us too ..... Great day, great birds.

Does anyone know how to set Bluesky so it opens where you left off and doesn't zip to the most recent post. Therefore having to scroll backwards. It's infuriating !!!
