That’s Metroid Prime 4 done. Too much of this time was aimlessly wandering the desert and that absolutely atrocious final boss. Overall it’s…fine? It’s a serviceable sci-fi adventure, it looks and sounds great and plays well with some decent standout moments.

With all the discourse around AI and voice actors, I wanted to delve deeper. Big thanks to all I spoke to, especially David Menkin, Jennifer Hale, Alix Wilton Regan, and Colin Ryan for being so candid.

Job news!✨ Today marks my last week at Eurogamer, and my last as a games journalist. Working for Eurogamer was a dream for me, and I'm incredibly proud of the work I've achieved, but the time has come for me to move on in the industry to something new.

Been having a great time with Nightreign's DLC, but I still wish this had more longterm support because I'm greedy.

There are few greater feelings than finally having the perfect Nightreign run, max level, and then getting the final blow on the Nightlord when your teammates are both downed and it’s your first try. Just been dancing round my living room like a normal person.

Metroid Prime 4 and Nightreign DLC on the same day is criminal because how am I meant to choose? Metroid won.

It’s wet and cold outside, so it’s the perfect day to snuggle up on the sofa and get cosy with Silent Hill for the first time. Nothing like some slow dread to warm you up.

Completed Cronos last night. Typical survival horror stuff but really enjoyed its atmosphere and brutalist Polish design, even if it’s more Stranger Things mystery than terrifying.

FF Tactics done. Bit love/hate with this one. The writing, voice acting, and tone are sublime; the balancing is not. It’s either infuriating or trivial and often feels archaic. Very glad to have finally played it though.

I adore the style of FF Tactics but it’s my first time and honestly I’ve been struggling with it. The early hours are TOUGH and there’s a lot of job fiddling to do. But I think I’m finally getting to grips with it, and I’m excited to experience this story at last!

Are many games really Soulslikes? Or are they just third-person action-RPGs that have been conflated with FromSoftware?

I really wanted to like Hell is Us more than I did. It ticks so many boxes for me and I adore its general vibe and atmosphere, but it's let down by shallow combat and some tedious, divisive design choices.
