Red rose in the rain. All my roses are having to start over from their roots after a month of below zero degree Fahrenheit temps in January and February. Knee high now.

No Illinois trail riding this month. If it isn't bad enough that diesel fuel is $6.99 a gallon, last fill up was bad: water settled in the tank and now the truck is in the shop for what could be a $10,000 fix. I can still appreciate beauty of the farm and about 2.5 miles of trails. Staying positive.

Changes. Sit by my side. Come as close as the air. Share in a memory of gray. And wonder in my words. Dream about the pictures that I play of changes. Phil Ochs is gone. T is gone. I go on.

Bringing order to the garden. Mostly seeds planted this year because I would not pay $6 per plant for what was half that much last year. We will adapt and go on. May sanity return to the world someday, hopefully sooner rather than later.

Next up on the bloom roster: day lilies. Last year the they waited until June to pop. Looks like they may start early this year.

Cleaned out three garden boxes (and gravel surrounds and weeded iris bed) yesterday. Rain and rest today. Three more boxes to prep behind the house. Late start this year.

Climbing Crow Knob in Shawnee National Forest. I had a moment when I felt like I was looking at a coral reef on the sea floor. A spectacular display of moss and lichen on solid stone.

Two more new to me flowers, Shooting Star and Miami Mist, plus a wonderful mix of spring beauties bordering the Shawnee NF trails in abundance this spring. Proof the world holds so much wonder you can never see it all.
