The Cowboy is probably OP(overpowered), but while you want most cards to feel balanced it is also good to have some cards that are more obviously good that everyone might want to bid on adding some more interesting decisions to the auctions. The Cowboy card art by Dan Evans

A few years ago Elise and I played Wingspan. She's an avid birder and loved it. I also enjoyed it because it’s just a good game. So started my journey of designing a game with a theme I loved that might be enjoyed by all because it’s just a good game. Best Eleven is that game!

There’s a lot that goes into designing a card. There were a few iterations before this, but lots of play testing, work, simplifying and ink later I found a design that worked best for the game.
