The case challenging a $5 million WV Water Development Authority grant to an out-of-state religious school is coming to an end, with a Court declaring the original grant unconstitutional and the Authority agreeing that public funds will not be spent on religious education or advocacy.

VICTORY: A court has ruled the WV Water Development Authority unconstitutionally granted funds to an out-of-state religious school. We’ve said all along it's inappropriate for public infrastructure money to fund religious education and advocacy. This is a big win for church-state separation.

BREAKING: The Supreme Court announced it will hear our case challenging the state law banning trans students from participating in school sports. Lower courts were right to block this discriminatory law and others like it, and we will continue to defend the freedom of all kids to play.

By a margin of 78 votes, Morgantown has upheld an ordinance criminalizing sleeping in public for people who have nowhere else to go. We are disappointed, but this vote does not change people's basic constitutional rights. We will watch enforcement of this ordinance closely. Our work continues.

Tomorrow is the Morgantown municipal election. We urge a “yes” vote on repealing the city’s so-called camping ban. No one should be locked up for being homeless.

Under HB 2894, if you give a ride to an undocumented person, you are committing human smuggling. The bill also excludes undocumented victims of actual human trafficking from receiving restitution. Tell the Senate Judiciary to vote NO.

ALERT: SB 299 is back on the agenda. It removes exemptions to the state’s ban on gender-affirming care for trans kids, meaning that even if a kid is at risk for suicide, this lifesaving care is still banned. The bill is on the House Health agenda today at 3:30. Demand the committee vote NO.
