Brought the seedlings in from the propagating tunnel. Just too cold to leave them out. Need to get the hot bed up and running to get them out to a frost free cloche.

And so it begins! Kicking off Amaryllis season with "Rose Cybister". A more delicate flower than some other varieties.

Cineraria maritima 'Silverdust' still hanging in there. Described as half hardy so not expected to make it through winter. Plants now going into their 2nd winter.

Calendula (aka pot marigold, aka scotch marigold) hanging on despite the wind and rain. #bloomscrolling

Tree growing continued. Trying a variety of trees from seed. Hopefully some will germinate.

Wanting to plant more trees on the farm so thought I try growing some from scratch given it has been a mast year for oak and chestnuts. Fingers crossed some will germinate come spring.

Brought the potted dahlias under cover a few weeks ago to protect them from too much rain. Despite overnight temps below freezing a few blooms hanging on.

With diurnal temperature variation increasing in the polytunnel decided to bring in the last of the peppers. There were more than i thought!

That will be the last of the figs then. Variety is the dwarf fig Little Miss Figgy. Compact enough for large(ish) pot indoors. Figs a good size and tasty.

Final pick of apples. Not the biggest haul but probably the best apples of the last few years. Not bad for a small cordon.

Oops! May have bought a new amaryllis bulb.

Finished the footstool at class last night. Have reunited it with its chair. Photo doesn't do the fabric justice, lovely purpley blue herringbone tweed.

Duic back with his boys after 6 weeks of "work"

Back to upholstery class last night and on with the footstool to match last term's parker knoll chair.

The sweet peppers just keep coming. Been a really good year for peppers.

Trying to pick the ripe raspberries before the rain arrives.

Quite pleased with the Corno de Torro Rosso peppers this year!

Time to try the polytunnel grown watermelon.

Removing some of the foliage so light can get to the melons. Found a couple of ripe ones hiding.

Out on the hill today with a volunteer recorder with Butterfly Conservation looking at Northern Brown Argus habitat. Rock Rose (pictured) is the food source for the larvae.

Seems to be a good year for peppers! Just picked 3.6kg. Should keep us going for a few days.

Finally got round to finishing the sofa bed. Not to shabby for a sofa bought 38 years ago in habitat in aberdeen.

Cutting beds coming along. Mainly zinnias with some straw flowers and lillies at the back.

Made a nursery area for wee Niven with a couple of his chums and their mums while we get him used to bottle/bucket feeding.

Sometimes farming sucks! Found our youngest breeding cow dead in the field this morning. Hoping her calf will take to hand rearing.

Been a while since I've grown onions and shallots. Not a bad crop given how dry it has been.

The fruit harvest continues. Blackcurrants and jostaberries today.

Another picking of cherries. Have now picked approx 3kg so the birds can have the rest.

Battle for the cherries has begun! Trying to pick the ripe ones before the birds get them!

1st tomatoes of the year. Variety is Golden Nuggets. Described as a bush type but I'm not so sure. Looks more like an indeterminate type. Cherry type tomato.

Today we have a Northern Marsh Orchid
