At TU Delft Netherlands for work. There are a lot of cars here, but proper bike lanes everywhere, bikes having priority on side streets, regular trains late into the night, a tram line about to open through the campus. So you have proper choices. Weather is still England levels of grim though.

My parents live in small village with no gas supply. In 2025 they junked am old oil boiler for a heat pump. Radiators also needed changing, but it works well and is cheaper (espec with rooftop solar). Dirty heating oil should be demobed for heat pumps, reducing emissions and saving energy.
