IOYS school advocate, Jaxon (he/him), and IOYS substance use prevention intern, Rowan (he/they), were out in the community last month at Carmel Community School's mental health awareness family night where students and families could connect to mental health resources in the community ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🖤🤎💙🤍💗

The IOYS community center provides a safe, welcoming, and affirming space for LGBTQIA2+ young people and allies between the ages of 13 and 24 to hang out, make friends, access resources, and participate in evidence-based programs. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🖤🤎💙🤍💗

🎉 Congratulations to IOYS director of strategic initiatives, Alie (she/they) for being recognized this week as one of Southern Colorado's 40 Under 40! 🎉 "Alie is a rare leader - visionary yet grounded, strategic yet deeply empathetic."

IOYS took young folx up to the state capitol this week to learn about what lobbying means, how they can advocate for themselves in schools, and they had the opportunity to have conversations with their legislators. We're looking forward to doing it again next year!

Thank you so much to Rise Above Colorado for coming to the IOYS community center last week to offer their How to be a Good Friend program, which is a low-facilitation, high impact social and emotional learning (SEL) resource that helps teens reflect on & practice what it means to be a good friend.

Thank you so much to CC Bonner Fellow, Ellison (she/her) for facilitating Power Through Choices, which is a sexual health education program in which youth learn how to make safe choices regarding healthy relationships and sexual activity.

Our Transformations group started a 3-week voice training program for trans, nonbinary, and gender diverse folx in collaboration with Undead Voice! Session 1 focused on our goals, warm up & cool down exercises, and homework reflecting on our future selves.
