In leu of comments (in linguistic form) on reading Han Kang's new book, We Do Not Part, I did a piece of calligraphy.

New notebook (a small French-made sketchbook)

And calligraphy in my current notebook, actually a sketchbook made in Germany using thick paper for watercolor paints. I'm practically all done with this one since it doesn't have many pages.

And there's also this one...

I'm taking ten paintings to San Francisco with me to give to friends and family. I just rounded out the group by doing up the final three in styles I've done in the past.

I continue to be fascinated by the process of creating these imperfect objects. Though the basic process is the same, each time I come up with something different. Tried some purposefully messy ones this time.

Did a whole series of these, thinking I'd take them with me as gifts when I go to San Francisco next month.

I left my notebook behind at my house in the suburbs, and went without for a couple of weeks. I typed my journal on my pc. So when I got my journal back, I pasted the printouts of what I had typed recently into the physical journal. Then did my usual calligraphy.

Tried out some new ideas inspired by Steven Forth's comments.
