#onthisday On 17 December 2024, we met up for the first time in a café in Amsterdam. Before, we only knew each other from Instagram and had talked here and there, but then Jona moved to Amsterdam! We chatted for hours, had coffee and almost right there and then "Things We Threw Away" was born!

1/2 🎙️ Episode 6 - Wooden Objects In the 6th episode of Things We Threw Away, we will be looking into wooden objects. With the help of two examples from two opposite regions in the former Roman Empire, Jona and Stefanie dive into wooden objects that survived for thousands of years.

1/2 🎙️ Episode 5 - A Roman cradle In the 5th episode of Things We Threw Away, we discuss a Roman cradle from Herculaneum and how the object survived against all odds. The Roman cradle, or cunabulum as the Romans would have called it, is in incredibly good shape.

🎙️ Episode 3 - Drawing a Hammer In this episode, we are visiting the Museum Catharijneconvent in Utrecht (Netherlands), where an object stands right at the entrance, which Jona picked to take a closer look at: a medieval (ceremonial?) hammer built up based on an axehead from around 1000 BCE.
