I think people misunderstand that IT IS OKAY if a book makes you UNCOMFORTABLE, sometimes that is the author's intent, but what YOU DO with those feelings as the reader is YOUR responsibility, not an author's, and which is why using that discomfort as a crux to mortality police makes you a dick

WW realizes he’s in love with Vash when it occurs to him that he’d be willing to sacrifice all that he is for him just as he would for hopeland. I think he struggles with that realization quietly but through his actions while Vash’s conflict is entirely internal.

The only times Vash doesn’t feel like an alert prey animal who has to be ready at any given moment to act or run is when Wolfwood holds him. When Vash realizes this it’s when it clicks that he’s in love with Wolfwood.
