#Pompey with far more purpose, self-belief and structure in this game. They’ve largely controlled the derby so far. Probable frustration in that they haven’t made the periods of dominance count, and losing Schmid. Hard to believe that Southampton will be as poor in the 2nd half.

The decision by Sheffield United to get rid of Chris Wilder is looking more baffling by the week.

The bold approach from #Pompey towards Leicester’s interest in Josh Murphy should also be commended. I’m told the initial fee offered was nowhere near an amount the club would have entertained anyway. That’s another huge win in this transfer window for Mousinho.

#Pompey had to take a positive step forward with their recruitment this summer to appease an ambitious manager, and to compete in an increasingly tough market. Time will tell, but it looks like the club have got the balance right.

Even aside from the nostalgia of Conor Chaplin’s return to #Pompey, this is an excellent piece of business by the club. I’d say he fits into a Mousinho system really well. Find it slightly odd that Ipswich have let him go, but it’s an ambitious, clever move from Pompey.
