The basis of the gun rights movement, under the movement’s interpretation of the 2nd amendment, has crumbled before our eyes. As the gov’t turns arms against its people, the movement’s leaders, followers, legal scholars, and GOP allies have been silent. Ditto for SCOTUS’s conservative bloc.

What is happening in Minneapolis—an unaccountable paramilitary killing civilians in the streets—is the fulfillment of an implicit promise the GOP made long ago to its gun rights voters: one day they would get to commit acts of violence.
