I was thrilled to attend the Broadway Gardens Summer Fête, and getting to spend time chatting with the residents! I was glad to hear the event raised plenty of money towards a community defibrillator at the medical centre! It was wonderful to see all of the stalls, music, and conversations.

On Friday evening, I was thrilled to attend the University of Wolverhampton’s Beyond Futures Research & Enterprise Awards. This was an amazing event, recognising the amazing staff, students, and researchers at the University, and hearing about their research which is changing lives across the globe.

I had an absolutely fantastic day at Willenhall Lockstock which returned yet agaIn! And it wasn't just me enjoying it as over 4,000 people came to Willenhall Memorial Park. What a turn out! Thank you to the amazing organisers who make this event happen year in year out.

It's fantastic to have some great back to school news as Ofsted have awarded Willenhall E-Act Academy with a Good in all areas. This means that every single secondary school in Wolverhampton is now Good or Outstanding according to Ofsted, which is fantastic news for families and young people!

What a blast from the past, as I was thrilled to visit Coppice before they broke up in the summer! It was fantastic to meet the team at the school, as well as bumping into some old colleagues from my time there. I wish the team good luck for the upcoming start of term.

I loved attending the New Invention Summer Fest at The Milestone Pub in Willenhall earlier in the summer! They promised Sun, Sand, and Fun, and the sun really did shine. It was fantastic to meet so many local people at this pub which is truly at the heart of the community!

I invited Dr Paul Hampton from the University of Wolverhampton to discuss the exciting future for the Green Innovation Corridor - From Springfield Brewery site to JLR M54 site! Ambitious plans are underway to drive sustainable growth, create high-quality local jobs and apprenticeships.

Attending the City Investment Board in Wolverhampton is one of the highlights of my road. It was great to see the Youth Council there, who are a fantastic influence for the city, and are keen to raise their voices on the issues which matter to them. #Investment #Youth #Wolverhampton

I am hugely shocked and saddened to hear the news that the Chancellor of the University of Wolverhampton, The Rt Hon Lord Paul of Marylebone, PC, has passed. Lord Paul served our University and our City diligently, having being Chancellor since 1999, and was a vital part of the institution.

I met with the Investing and Saving Alliance to discuss boosting saving schemes and expanding access to financial tools for more and more people. We had important discussions around improving financial literacy and reaching underserved communities through inclusive investments.

Found myself on the other side of the table again—this time meeting with Pearson Edexcel. We had important discussions around assessment: GCSE English and Maths, Combined and Triple Science, BTECs, vocational qualifications, and the much needed Curriculum and Assessment review now underway.

The arts, culture, and music are some of the basic building blocks of our society, and people who work in these industries must be treated fairly. People should be able to make a living out of their creative work, and reforming streaming remuneration is a fantastic start to building a fairer Britain

I had the pleasure of attending a fantastic showcase event featuring Sikh-led grassroots organisations from across the UK. With around 30 groups present, it was inspiring to see the breadth and diversity of work being done to uplift communities and drive positive change.

Last month I was able to join the wondering congregation at Fallings Park Methodist Church, led by Rev. Rosemary. Thank you for the warm and welcoming service! It was a fantastic surprise to see my old RE Teacher from Wednesfield High, Miss Farley who I remember fondly from my time at school!

I was really pleased to see The Food Foundation welcome the government’s work on school food nutritional standards. Here in Wolverhampton and Walsall, child obesity is a concern with rates higher than national averages – and we know it can lead to serious health problems later in life.

It is amazing to see that there were an amazing record-breaking 383 million GP appointments delivered this year, which is a whopping increase of 7 million! This has been a huge change in NHS services, which is being felt around the country.

It was great to head down to the Guru Nanak Satsang Gurdwara on the Cannock Road to see their annual sports day. The Gurdwara here does an amazing job of engaging with the community, and this is an absolute highlight of the local calendar. #Wolverhampton #Gurdwara #SportsDay

One of the great things about being back in Wolverhampton and Wilenhall during summer recess is having the chance to stumble across some brilliant local gems — like the Wednesfield History Society’s exhibition at Wednesfield Library! 🏛📚 It’s on until mid-August, and definitely worth a visit!

Here's a date for your diary, the Wednesfield Canal Festival is back next Saturday and Sunday (9th and 10th) of August! I had a fantastic time there last year, seeing boats from around the country, selling all sorts of handmade gifts and treats!
