Did you know that upon opening in 1989, Disney-MGM Studios featured the world’s largest Hidden Mickey! Although this Hidden Mickey has been lost to time, parts of it can still be seen today.

For today’s random Disney memory I present to you Yellow Rain Ponchos! Until around 2003 Disney World used to be covered with Yellow Ponchos when it rained in the parks and around the resort. Around 2003, these yellow ponchos were “retired” and the clear ponchos were introduced

Mickey Mouse in his driveway at Mickey’s Birthdayland. The land (1988-1990) was part of the celebration for Mickey’s 60th birthday. The meant to be temporary land was such a hit that it was rethemed several times over the years before it was replaced by Storybook Circus (2012).

Sorcery in the Sky fireworks spectacular, Disney-MGM Studios (1990-1998) This show celebrated the history of film using scores throughout the ages. The finale included a 55ft tall inflatable Mickey that would shoot fireworks out of his finger! The show was replaced by Fantasmic

The “15 Years of Magic Parade” was a parade held at the Magic Kingdom to celebrate The 15th Anniversary of WDW. (1986-1987)⠀ In this parade float you have the Country Bears attempting to make a cake for the party but it looks like things might have gone upside down!⠀

“The Country Bear Vacation Hoedown” debuted in 1986 at the Magic Kingdom and briefly replaced the original show until 1992. This overlay featured new songs and costumes for all of the bears! The show closed with the song “Thank God I’m A Country Bear”. A parody from John Denver

From our family to yours, Happy Thanksgiving! This image is from America on Parade which is a parade that ran from 1975 to 1976 at both Disneyland and the Magic Kingdom to help celebrate the Bicentennial of the United States.

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser opened in 2022 as an immersive two night adventure blending themed environments, live performers, and interactive storytelling aboard the Halcyon. closed in 2023, it marked one of Disney’s boldest experiments in narrative driven themed experiences.

Star Wars Launch Bay opened at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 2015, transforming the former Animation building into a showcase of exhibits and character encounters from the galaxy far, far away. It served as an early bridge between the park’s past and the future of Galaxy’s Edge.

Muppet*Vision 3D opened with Disney-MGM Studios in 1991 as one of the last projects Jim Henson worked on. The attraction blended 3D film, in-theater effects, and classic Muppet chaos, bringing guests into Muppet Labs for a showcase that perfectly captured Henson’s humor and heart

“It’s Tough to be a Bug!” opened with Disney’s Animal Kingdom in 1998, bringing guests under the Tree of Life for a 3D look at the world from an insect’s perspective. Hosted by Flik, the show featured original effects and humor before closing in 2025.

From 1982-2006 Living with the Land (formerly Listen to the Land) had a cast member operating the front of the boat and providing narration along the 20 minute journey. The cast member would primarily speak about the specific plants in the greenhouse portion of the attraction
