The way you can't see Zion or Ishod's faces honestly felt disrespectful. You get 1 or 2 clips like that, somebody should be having a hard convo with the filmer. Hopefully they learn from it, because this is some of the worst work I've seen in a modern full length video.

Everything the new Huf video did right, the Real video did wrong. Lots of under exposed, jittery 120p footage thrown onto a 30p in a video so trapped in the early 2000s that its musical choices are matched only be the number of clips left in mono with fucked up white balance. A Real slog.

The new Huf video is the best piece of filmmaking I've seen in a skate video in some time.

Really happy with my progress as a filmmaker over the past year. Still plenty of room to improve, but I'm getting there.

Sight Unseen was the first video I bought myself and I maintain the fact that 20+ years later, if you're trying to show somebody real skating for the first time, you'd still struggle to find something as complete as Sight Unseen.

After discussing suspension of disbelief as a measure of success in building a street spot, how that applies to the use of materials and layout, and how I want to be tricked into thinking I'm at a street spot, I told them I want to build a park @mostlyskate.bsky.social would actually go skate.

I condensed 3 years worth of skate conference teachings on skateparks and shares public spaces into a 10 minute power point and the skatepark design process went from "How many slightly different handrails can we cram in" to "how do turn the seating arrangement for the rock wall into a skate spot?"

As a PC user "Macbook only has 2 ports and one of them is for the charger" seems like a bad joke I made up off the top of my head, but its actually a nightmare I'm actively living as I transfer footage onto a friend's computer hoping the transfer time continues to narrowly outpace the battery life.

Seek Skateboards

Spending my 38th birthday covering the first blind skate event and sleeping at an indoor park has more than made up for missing my annual NYC skatecation.

It will be designed to resemble the Cascades fountain, a familiar landmark here. There will be no metal edges anywhere. There will be trees and bushes in the space. You can huck the 3 block but its mostly a place to put your shit and chill. Bump to flat, double sided curb, ledges, and a China bank.

They're going forward with my ideas for the park design, which will feature a ledge plaza designed to look like it rests in a drained fountain separated from the rest of the park by a 3 block. The entrance will have a platform for vendors/performances that doubles as a manny pad when not in use.

I was ruminating on performative Christianity and thought about the fact that year and years ago my Grandma was talking about how her most Christian child in practice is the least Christian in action. Shitty people doing their best to cross their T's and dot their I's.

Alexis Sablone Epicly Later'd! I'm so thrilled. When PJ'S WHL dropped, I was as floored by her as the rest of the video and I remember feeling very alone in that sense. I was raised by a single mom who taught me women could do anything and I'm sure it played a big part. She'll always be a favorite.

Bad news is I was the only street skater within a sea of 50 year old transition skaters I've never met in my life. Good news is it sounds like my ideas better suit the spirit of the project so everyone is gonna watch Taj Hanson's panel from Adjacency as homework.

Initial design meeting for a new skatepark is today. Encouraged by the designer they went with but worried about butting heads with a used to skate friend who wants a huge vert wall that only one person in town is capable of skating. I've already lost the pump track battle.

I've been trying to clear up fundamental issues with my skating and realized my shoulders are too open and I put my head too far in front of my knees. Correcting it is hard, but right away I realized standing on the board wrong has been the biggest reason I've always sucked at flat ground.

The first thing I wanted to be when I grew up was an author. I wrote constantly. I was wondering what happened, then I remembered I was suspended for the last week of 5th grade when the teachers found Resident Evil fan fiction in my desk a few months affer Columbine. I tapered off shortly after.

People aren't used to pedestrians around here so they all give me right of way like a vehicle. Sir I am 20 feet away from that crosswalk. You don't have to wait at the stop sign. I'm not fast enough to t bone your car, even though my intimidating frame and muscles would surely do damage if I did.

Retired pro skaters rediscovering their love of the game is my favorite IG sub genre.

If my ADHD is I'm high gear and there are inexperienced kids at the park, every single minor sight or sound distracts me because I don't trust them. If the homies are having a more informal, social session that breaks up a natural rhythm of attempts, I can't do tricks. Skating with ADHD is shit.
