Issue 3 of IDW Gobots has astronauts who were cryogenically frozen wake up on a new weird planet that they think is alien and ends with the reveal that this planet was once Earth is very very similar to the original ending of Planet of the Apes.

The intended play feature of the Gobots Signal Gun's flashlight and the different colored lenses was that kids could send coded messages with them, although I feel like that's very unintuitive and probably more fun to use without the lenses and blinding your friends with the light.

When Renegade Rhetoric started it had the episodes be short enough to be described in 2 or 3 sentences that all changed with the episode Trash and Treachery where from then on episodes had summaries long enough to go into the plot in a three act structure. Said episode... 1/2

The 2nd volume of Seiryu Densetsu contains the prequel to the Leina OVA, and features a character named Shuntaro Shinoda, a screenwriter who lets Reina stay overnight at his house. This character was based on the screenwriter Hideki Sonoda himself. (Submitted by @robot_moments on twitter)

The episode Go-Girl from Renegade Rhetoric had A.J. Foster become a superhero with the same name. She gains her powers in the episode by bringing someone to safety but was in the path of the radioactive explosion l which mirrors the classic origins of the Hulk.

For context the competition was held by a theater enthusiast who was going to give way a magical stone previously owned by an ancient Roman alchemist named Arcanus Maximus (although the character was a fraud). The character is named after a DND character the writer... 1/2

The name and original color scheme of Bad Boy was (apparently) the inspiration behind Powerflash's Decepticon diaguise in the Wings Universe.

According to Ben Yee, Lanny Lathem who was at the time the Director of Creative Services at Fun Publications intended for Bug Bite's Botcon figures' purple paint to represent an abstract version of the Decepticon logo. Not sure if I see it but that was the intended effect.

I realized I've never put my opinions on all of the G1 Gobots designs as a whole in a singular thread so here it is in order of least to favorite: 6. Bug Bite: only one I actively dislike since I think it takes away everything that made the original toy interesting.

For whatever reason while more important characters like Small Foot didn't get the same love as characters as important as her, Spay-C who was by far a more minor character got a lot more merch with 2 different regular toys, a model kit, and a walkie talkie version... 1/2

Along with being released in blind boxes, the Mugenbine Musou figures are also being sold in a box set with different color schemes although the blind box color schemes have stayed exclusive to the blind boxes but it's nice that there's a guaranteed way to get no duplicates.

Of the 59 total Machine Robo 600 Series figures, 51 were brought over to Gobots, the ones that didn't make the cut were Highway Robo, Shinkansen Robo, New Shinkansen Robo, Double Decker Bus Robo, 3-Wheel Buggy Robo, Mini-Cooper Robo, Blackbird Robo, and Apollo Robo... 1/3

In the Renegade Rhetoric episode "The Show Must Go On," the Renegades and Guardians go up against each other in a competition of who can put up the best theater play. The guardians win with a rendition of The Metamorphosis by Kafka with Leader-1 in the role of Gregor.

There was a prototype design for Double Decker Bus Robo that had the arms and head of the figure be made of the same black plastic as the torso mode. Interestingly this prototype appears to have only been used for the robot mode since the vehicle mode in the prototype... 1/2

Not only was Double Decker Bus Robo one of the few Machine Robo toys to not be brought over to Gobots, they also only appeared in one episode of the Machine Robo animes where they only show up for one scene where they're stuck in robot mode and get rammed into. Poor bud.

The G1 Gobots Guardian 3-pack doesn't reference this but instead mentions that they're from Gobotron. The 2-pack including Road Ranger said he was from a different time and not a different universe but did call him a Gobot. Despite both cases Hasbro hasn't called Crasher... 1/2

Zardos Super Máquina was a Turbo / Supercar Robo bootleg released in the Brazilian Mutante line this figure was made to be a tie-in with Super Máquina, their release of Knight Rider. Somehow this wasn't the only time Knight Rider has been associated with a Gobots knockoff.

Treds cartoon design is pretty wildly different from his toy counterpart, lacking the Renegade symbol (for fairly obvious reasons), having the tank barrel on the front, having silver legs, and a completely different face. Likely due to the toy being in early development... 1/2

The in universe reasoning behind the G1 Gobots having different designs than their original toys was that these are the characters having gone through the modifier to take on the appearance of Transformers characters in order to fit in which is also why they share the TF... 1/2

Braxis Goes Bonkers is the 57th episode of Gobots and the final episode where Braxis appears; the episode ends with Cy-Kill threatening to kill Braxis after he escapes. Since he's never seen again I'm going to assume Cy-Kill got him. Rip to a real one.

Scooter was a character who at one point was in concepts for the Super Deformed Shattered Glass comic strip confirmed by the creator of it Josh Perez. Perez also confirmed the design would've had the color scheme of the Vespa from FLCL had it existed.

Scooter's "cowardice" and slightly annoying voice has resulted in older fans hating the character and him being mocked, especially in Renegade Rhetoric where Cy-Kill consistently makes jabs at the character although this is pretty within character for Cy-Kill.

Considering how vitriolic a lot of Transformers fans are to Gobots as a franchise, it is somewhat surprising that the Transformers wiki is nicer to Scooter than the Gobots wiki.

Sometimes in Machine Robo Rescue Leader Robo would use other Supporter Robo outside of their own as part of a hyper modes. Because of the designed modularity of the toyline this was something most toys could replicate.

Some Renegade Rhetoric episodes created fake animation model sheets to mimic the ones for Challenge of the Gobots and were actually quite successful in matching the style, resulting in some gems like these.

It's leaked that we're getting a Gens Selects 2 pack later this year and if I had to guess I think it's the second half of the G1 Gobots collection where we got a 3-pack of Small Foot, Pathfinder, and Treds in 2024 in a Gen Selects multipack just like we're getting... 1/3

The episode Whiz Kid is as far as I can remember the only episode to feature Nick Burns without either A.J. Foster or Matt Hunter with him being paired with the titular Whiz Kid as the human cast for the episode.

Considering he's a minor character and his toy didn't release until series 2, Flip Top has a shockingly large amount of episodes he appears in with a total of 8 episodes although never being an important character in any of them and is more so just a face in the crowd in some.

Of all the n̶e̶w̶ R̶o̶c̶k̶ L̶o̶r̶d̶s̶ Armorizers, only Bouldercrash and Geocron had rock modes being a part of the toy with both being packaged in these modes. The closest thing to an official rock mode for the others were through the toy designers Instagram posts.

The box art for Thruster describes the toy as having a robot mode which can only be said in the loosest terms. For fairly obvious reasons it didn't appear in much media but it did show up in one episode of Gobots and the IDW comic. Although in the show without its arms.

The episode Destroy All Guardians had Cy-Kill use a similar ability with him mind controlling the monster Ichigar although they come out of his hands and he specifically comments that Ichigar has a simple mind meaning he can probably only do it to stupid targets.
