Just got off work but can’t go home yet. It’s 95° outside, which means my room is probably over 100. There are perks to living here, but also sometimes fuck this place.

Look, you don't have to be sad that he's gone. You don't have to change your opinion about who he was and what he did. But you shouldn't celebrate that a person killed him. You should be concerned about what happens next. As bad as things are, they can always get worse.

My topical hot take is that death is a bad punishment. It's a quick solution that doesn't teach anything. It spares the perpetrator from any further accountability and leaves everyone else to clean up the damage on their behalf. It isn't justice, it's revenge, and I take zero satisfaction in it.
