Here is Dizzy Dean of the Houston Buffaloes shaking hands with Ray Caldwell of the Birmingham Barons before the start of the 1931 Dixie Series. Dean pitched in 41 games for the Buffaloes before starting his Hall of Fame career with St. Louis. The Barons won the series in seven games.

Before beginning his Hall of Fame career with the New York Yankees, Lou Gehrig played 205 games with the Hartford Senators in the Class-A Eastern League (it's not the same league that exists today.) This picture is from 1923 and is one of the few that exists of him in a Senators uniform.

Tommy Lasorda began his managing career in the Pioneer League in 1965, leading the Pocatello Chiefs, who became the Ogden Dodgers the following year. In 1969, he began managing the Spokane Indians in the PCL, moving with the team to Albuquerque in 1972. In 1973, he joined the Dodgers coaching staff.

In 1946, Jackie Robinson played 124 games for the Montréal Royals hitting .349, with 25 doubles, 8 triples, 3 homers, 66 RBIs and 40 stolen bases, being named the International League MVP. The Royals won the league pennant and playoff championship that season.
