Tomorrow could be a pretty interesting day for lakewatching on the southern end of Lake Huron👀. Sabine’s Gull and Brant seen today… these November blows are a good time to see rare species such as Pomarine Jaeger and Black-legged Kittiwake

tomorrow will bring a nice weather change to Southern Ontario, with cool temps and north winds. This comes after a week of poor hawkwatching conditions in the Southwestern part of the province. Locations along the North shore of Lake Erie and Lake Ontario should be productive

As you might expect from the very strong -IOD event strengthening La Nina’s footprint globally, this October’s observed pattern has deviated very little from the last 30 years worth of La Ninas over N America

Very good hawkwatching conditions for southern Ontario right now! The shorelines of Lake Erie and Lake Ontario should be particularly productive

Cold front incoming! Expect a major changeover of migrant species over the next few days. Many warblers, vireos and other lingering migrants will be leaving the province for the year… while later migrants such as longspurs, sparrows and more arriving

Tonight and tomorrow night are quite favourable for nocturnal songbird migration, with light winds and clear skies. Expect a good surge of migrants moving into the weekend

This afternoon should be quite productive at Van Wagner’s Beach and surrounding areas in Hamilton! Strong east winds all day there

Tomorrow has the potential for good hawkwatching across southern Ontario ~ particularly along the shorelines of Lake Erie and Lake Ontario. The wind speed will definitely play a roll in how the flight plays out along the shoreline, especially factoring in the potential for lake breeze in the PM

Decent conditions for lakewatching in Hamilton over the next two days ~ moderate east winds both afternoons. I don’t think it’ll be too crazy, but likely some jaegers & a Sabine’s Gull or two : )

Tomorrow could be a good hawkwatching day along the north shore of Lake Erie and Lake Ontario, with a steady north wind for most of the morning/into the afternoon and clear skies. It will depend on how long the winds retains a northerly component though (it is meant to shift east eventually)

Good conditions tonight for a strong nocturnal migration across Ontario! Very light winds with a slight northerly components in most areas & no rain in the way. Expect a nice influx of migrants : )

The winds on Thursday and Friday nights are currently looking very exciting from an Ontario birding perspective! Long distance wind/warm air form the southern US associated with a passing low pressure system… peak weather for fun birding/rarities in May! The next week should be interesting…

As of right now Monday and Tuesday are looking like they’ll be the first days with favourable winds this week. Nothing too crazy, but expect a large uptick in migrant songbirds. May has been rather poor for migration conditions so far, so hopefully things continue to improve over the next week!

Lots of songbird activity around southwestern Ontario today! These chilly May days with north winds can be fantastic for concentrating warblers and keeping them low for viewing

After a very exciting last week of April for birding weather, May started off very slow in the province… there are still lots of good birds being found, but there haven’t been any really crazy pushes of migrants. Fingers crossed for some low pressure from the gulf coast soon!
