Global Compendium of Animation: N is for Norman McLaren. Scottish-Canadian animator who worked at the National Film Board of Canada and innovated animation through drawn-on-film animation, abstract film, and pixilation, notably through his use of stop-motion pixilation in Neighbours (1952).

Here is my preliminary guide drawing for the animation, showing the primary dynamics to be expressed. A massive slump of part of the mountain surges toward us, with masses of ash erupting from the new weak spots, which spread and formed a devastating debris flow that overwhelms the vantage point.

Really enjoyed WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN? by Ivana Filipović. Both phases of Filipović's cartooning, both the scratchier pen-work and the later ink-heavier phase, are gorgeous, with a great grasp of restless, anxious tonality. A lovely collection from a voice I hope to read more of.
