In preparation of the California (and now many other US states) law and its ramifications, I've installed the ProtonVPN extension in Firefox to, at least, be able to download Linux ISOs. Not the datahoarder definition of Linux ISOs. Actual Linux ISOs. I don't know if I'll be able to use them...

Dang. This is impressive. Great work! In 2014, I drew this kind of stuff by hand and an IT professor said, "You'll shoot your eye out!" Since then, I've had Visio (Argh, matey!). Heck, my favorite dream is the kind where I'm working out a Visio diagram of this kind of stuff.

(1/8) Finally got my MK1869 XTREME from Edro in Portugal! The first thing I did was set up Theme Hospital with ESFM music. Well, it took time for me to figure a lot out again because I finally have a full Windows 98 build again. I was just abstaining from MS-DOS mode until I would receive this card.

As far as limiting myself in stress goes, it's stuff like, "What can I do for a job?" I tend to think really narrowly when that happens and that's just never healthy for me. For example, I need a wide range of hobbies and interests. It doesn't work for me to just focus on one overall topic.

So that individual who was "my girlfriend" and I are back to being friends. It's better that way for me. I feel alright today. No complaints. I'm not feeling enough stress that would lead me to post "a skeetstorm," which is a lot less gross than what it sounds like. I tend to limit myself in stress.

In other news, though, I just got "drop-in replacement fans" for my Voodoo5 5500. I'm always scared that the original fans will fail, and I won't even notice it!

Otherwise, I just replaced my Bazzite installation on my laptop with Fedora. I'd totally consider using Bazzite on a gaming handheld, but I want more flexibility on my laptop.

So, the intermittent black screens in Windows 11 for me were a result of the January 2026 Patch Tuesday update. I first suspected the Nvidia drivers because flaky Nvidia drivers were all over tech news a year ago. So, I disabled multi-plane overlay and re-enabled MPO when the issue persisted.

(1/4) Yeah, I don't want to start a business. I was just trying to get myself motivated. Also, it's tough that I can't work for another two and a half years. So, I'm continuing to get by with hobby things.

On a side note, my mother doesn't understand the Québécois sense of humor. She watched some goofy shows on the weekends, but I had to be upstairs and away from the TV during one of the dramas before my mother moved out of her house.

Goodness. I don't watch TV at all, but I'm with my mother following her having had oral surgery. My mother usually watches TV 5 Monde, which, outside of its "fiction programming," such as its movies and soap operas, is never as tough for me to handle as "American TV" is.

Believe me, plenty of people throughout my life have wanted me to "be the next Bill Gates," whatever that means. I want to be myself, thank you very much. I've told people who have "wanted me to be the next Bill Gates" that I want to be myself. They then just continue as if I hadn't said anything.

I think that the USB add-in card that I have in my Super Socket 7 PC is one device too many. I'll try installing just the VXD drivers for my Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS. VOGONS user Joseph_Joestar has a guide for that up. I already have an SD card to IDE adapter on secondary IDE for sneakernet usage.

Considering ditching Backblaze Personal Backup for iDrive 360. IDrive 360 is for businesses, but I put my business name down as "Personal" for the free trial. IDrive 360 supports Linux, but it has a notice saying that "ordinary usage" is less than 10 TB. IDrive 360 scans all your data on a schedule.

(1/3) I looked and looked for my power bank with USB-C Power Delivery. Right now, a power bank is like a MicroSD card...or was like a MicroSD card given prices on those now. It's something that I'd always like but never go out of my way to buy. This is when I disable all power savings on my phone.

Licensing is a pain... I saw that River City Ransom: Underground is being delisted. It reminded me of how I tried to find SecuROM-ridden Dark Void Zero after its delisting. I've since found a better source, but I ran it from a Windows 7 VM because what I found from IGG-Games must've had a miner.

Much of why I've immersed myself in retro communities has been to escape from "suburban kids with Nintendos" discourse. I never really fit in or understood my peers, I spent summers in France, I didn't understand American commercial culture, et cetera. It's better for me to be around diversity.

(1/6) Not sure how visible it is here, but I bought a Sun Microsystems rebadge of a Sony GDM-5410. The seller showed it off with a dark wallpaper under Windows 10. The display has a bright spot in the lower right corner. Also, a horizontal line is visible on the Windows 98 desktop.

(1/8) So... last summer, as I walked down the street with my best friend from my local arcade, Billy's Midway in Hawthorne, New Jersey, I started developing this personal dream. Out of all my hobbies and interests, pinball and arcade games require the most maintenance.

Just for a little clarification, I don't have to get so motivated. That'll just make me feel overwhelmed again. It's just a little insulting that I've put all the work in, and I can't change things, though. Here's me just weeks ago at Commencement. I might just have to take it easy for 2 1/2 years.
