Depends on the animal. I don’t think it’s ethical to use most wild animals, especially primates, for filming purposes. So they’re CGI in my films. As for domesticated animals, it depends on what they have to do.

If a domesticated animal (like the rabbit in Vol 3 or the rats in Squad or cows in Superman) just needs to sit there & a @humanesociety.bsky.social rep is on set making sure the animal is well taken care of & calm, it can sometimes be OK as well (the rats were especially happy & somewhat trained).

But overall I try to avoid the use of most animals on set other than dogs who, again, at least on my sets, love performing for treats & pets & praise & interacting with the cast & crew. PS I love cats, but their innate independence makes them hilariously shitty actors.

That is also true. The amount of times people use “we” in comment threads because they’re unwilling or unable to take responsibility for their own opinion is baffling.

If there has been one consistent element in my life it is this: In 1999 folks were outraged the “Troma guy” was doing Scooby-Doo - I was for the first time bombarded with online vitriol. Later, over two hundred thousand people signed a petition protesting Zack & I making Dawn of the Dead. 1/3

When Guardians of the Galaxy was announced we were endlessly told it was wrong to focus on them over more well-known heroes & it would be Marvel’s first bomb. Next, I was told over & over no one wanted to see a TV show about Peacemaker. 2/3

Even recently, we got thousands of mentions saying no one wanted a series about the Penguin. So I certainly have learned to ignore the chant “is this necessary?” or “no one wants to see this,” and instead focus on the passion in and the merits of each project itself. Finis! 3/3

I STILL am not sick of Do You Wanna Taste It & I’ve probably heard it more times than anyone who isn’t in Wig Wam. I especially love hearing it play in sporting events across the country. That said, we have something new for you this season - it will inform the whole season just as DYWTI did.

Sam McCurdy won a well-deserved Emmy for his cinematography on Shogun - now he’s here killing it on #Peacemaker.
