genuinely crazy to me how unitary executive advocates read the vesting clause as granting a huge scope of essentially royal "inherent" powers. one would think that if the framers intended to give the president royal authority, they would have just said so.

A president weaponizing government power to silence speech he doesn't like is a crisis for our democracy. We must stand with those who refuse to bow to political blackmail — and call out those, like ABC, who cave to a wannabe king and put our rights at risk.

In a moment like this, when tensions are high, part of the job of the president is to remind us of the ties that bind us together.

An H-1B clampdown will enrich "U.S.-based" companies already using the business model of bringing in "knowledge workers" on L-1 visas (intercompany transfer) just to contract them out to U.S. employers who can't get workers on H-1Bs. If Trump's stated goal is genuine, this tactic won't work.
