While querying BAIT, I've currently been doing research and drafting for a story set in early 2000's/Y2K era. Found this collage on Pintrest and its been the main image on my moodboard. Also doing research on a story inspired by iconic Jazz music of the past 👀 #DVParty Day 6!

#DVParty Day 5! The main theme of my story is the song Comfortable by H.E.R. I used it as the basis for the main relationship in the story, but even then strip away the lyrics and just leave the music its a great steady song that covers the feel of what i wanted my story to be.

Since I've moved onto a new project, my goal is to have any meaningful progress in outlining and/or drafting. Also getung back into the habit of taking breaks between writing to avoid burnout.

I finished my edits and began my querying journey. Honestly, it feels a bit surreal to me that the idea I had around 2018/2019 and wrote for the last two years became a story I'm incredibly proud of.

Started a new WIP after revamping the inital summary and oof....this one might hit me in my feels. I'm ready 👀

Intimate settings are my favorite. Quiet dinners at home, maybe a backyard picnic. Settings that allow characters to connect with each other without the noise of the world around them.

Technucally, Dean made the first move but since they've been friends since then, Brandi and Dean have been working towards it together. Brandi falls hard, but Dean falls harder 🤣

I want to say both? But i also talk out loud and act through scenes to make sure something makes sense (espeically with dialouge) so its probably more of a 70/30 split.

I LOVE a good almost kiss or a good interuppted kiss. The romantic tension and expected payoff only to be interuppted by xyz *chefkiss*.

Music always influences the vibes of my story. If the music isn't story speicific, jazz is my go to. I usually need something without lyrics to focus my thoughts and put them to paper.

Oh where to begin 🤣 My characters had to work up to their romance for sure. They were friends to lovers (?) to friends. They've been friends for almost seven years and the tide is definatly changing 👀

I took ALOT of inspiration from 90s animated/film soundtracks specifically the Anastasia soundtrack so anything that gives that samenfeeling is a winner in my book!

Two things come to mind but number 1 would absolutely be the climax of my story. It's a emotiknally heavy conversation between siblings. Scenes that carry emotional weight are always fascinating to me on page and on screen.

Animated movie for sure! My current story is heavily inspired by animation in general so it would be perfect 🎥

My current WIP had an open door scene in its first draft but it didn't quite fit the story. Transitioned to a closed door and I think it fits better due to the character's emotional intimacy throughout the story. In the future, i'll likely stick to closed door as well.

95% of the time i'll write in third person because i often change POV between 2-3 characters so its easier for me to have that narraitive distance. However, I'll write first drafts and revisions in first person because i find it helps me find a character's voice and tone better than third does.
