Loves this collection of poetry. The prose is achingly beautiful, I would inject this in my veins if that was possible. Intriguing, powerful, honest, the various forms that the poems take shape in to get across the themes. Highly recommend #poetry #read

Spent the weekend reading this. When a bake-off show is crashed by pro wrestles things turn into chaos. This chaos is further exacerbated due to an infected batch of donuts that turns the wrestlers into zombies. This was a fun read, almost like a popcorn movie. #read #books

My current read. This is a great coming-of-age novel. The way the author captures young infatuation, and in the age of online dating, looking to others to find a sense of worth, attractiveness, was brilliantly captured here. A portrayal of some unhealthy ways we approach attraction. #books #read

Sad tiger by Neige Sinno, incredibly profound memoir about the devastation of one’s childhood at the hands of an adult. Part memoir, part literary criticism and about the power of literature.

Got a bit of reading done. Loved thief, brilliant novel. It follows three young people in Tanzania, a coming of age story in post colonial Tanzania. Little Rot was quite the ride. Set in the underbelly of a Nigerian city. It follows 5 friends as they navigate this world of sex and power. #books

Final night in Vietnam. It’s been an experience, but I would definitely be back. Sleepover in my room 😈

Was stuck in a typhoon. Streets were flooded. That was an experience. Love experiencing something new

Finished this today. The story follows 3 timelines from Malika’s life, showing how colonialism and poverty changed her. The third part of the book I just absolutely loved. And really at the heart of the book is about acceptance.

There are rivers in the sky by Elif Shafak. This is my current read. Can’t recommend this author enough. She is a master storyteller. Very engaging and beautifully written.

Easily distracted when I need to get ready for work

My first Zadie Smith. She really knows how to tell a story. The language was impressive, there were parts I enjoyed more than others.

2 week of great reads. Loved ‘Light From Uncommon Stars’ really engaging sci-fi/fantasy. Aliens, donuts and the violin, what’s not to love. Highly recommend ‘If We Were Villians’ was recommended to me. Really enjoyed the Shakespeare element to this novel. What are you reading this weekend? #read

This was a fun read. Found the storyline to be original and engaging. About newlyweds who launch a social media platform. As they experience success, their marriage faces growing challenges. Ultimately about a woman taking ownership of her voice and understanding her power #read

This was not for me unfortunately. I didn’t care for it, didn’t care for the characters, a little insufferable. I struggle to get into the way this is written. I do have to say, the narrator of the audiobook is amazing, he did a brilliant job, found it more enjoyable to listen to. #read

This was a great read. The Bee Sting. It started off, I was a little unsure about it. Imelda’s story threw me off with the lack of punctuation. Once Dickie’s story took off, I was hooked. The Barnes family, a once powerful and wealthy family in Ireland that faces financial difficulties #read

I don’t know what it is about this author, I just really struggle with getting into the story, the characters. The way it’s written.

I don’t know I feel about this book. I didn’t enjoy it which is unfortunate as I love the cover of this. I didn’t see anything worthwhile in the story, didn’t care for the characters. Though some really good passages here and there, a laugh or two. This was not my cup of tea #read

This is a near perfect novel. Loved reading this reimagining of the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. When Jim overhears that he is about to be sold to a man in New Orleans, separated from his wife and daughter forever, he runs away until he can formulate a plan. Found this unputdownable. #read

Love this #book Set amid the Jamaican diaspora in London at the dawn of 1980s, a mesmerizing story of love, loss, and self-discovery that vibrates with the liberating power of music. Highly recommend.
