In 2025, I only read 12 books cover to cover, in addition to several textbooks and academic articles. So here’s the book stack for the beginning of 2026, with hopefully many more unread books already in my personal library.

Christmas Blessings. Be kind to others and to yourselves. Find joy in the many special moments you will experience over the coming days. It’s been a challenging year but with that joy we experience and spread among each other we can make a difference in the world especially in the coming year.

The valley where I live, in Toronto, is a wet, slushy, snowy, icy mess today. I was out walking and had to watch every step.

My academic journey at Central Michigan University came to a conclusion yesterday at my convocation ceremony. It was a great experience reconnecting with colleagues and professors, and even meeting some new colleagues. Here’s to an academic chapter ending and a professional chapter beginning.

December 1, 2025, marks the 37th anniversary of World AIDS Day. On this day, we commemorate those who have died, celebrate the medical breakthroughs that have made HIV treatable, and recognize the increased access to treatment and prevention services.

On November 20, we join communities around the world in observing the Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR). TDOR calls us to remember transgender and gender-diverse people whose lives have been lost to anti-trans violence.

This is Budapest Pride. BUDAPEST, where an autocratic regime tried to erase and destroy queer people. It’s shows of courage like this that makes me so proud of my queer siblings. We are not going anywhere!

Happy Flag Day Canada!

I attended a funeral service today for a high school friend. It was very humbling hearing such lovely things about him. We were not close friends but respected one another. What I remember most was that while many judged me for being weird, loud and proud, he never did. He was a class act.

I do enjoy the Christmas season and I appreciate living in a neighborhood that embraces it too with such great decorations.

Toronto has changed so much, but not in a good way since the pandemic. But the city still has breathtaking views that suddenly appear at sunset on a December evening.
