Rather a misty day. I took the bus to St Radegund and visited the Calvary with its stations of the cross and then took the lift up to the Schöckl. The mist did not lift so I only have flowers I photographed on my way down to show.

If you think that clinical trials use probability sampling you have never had the pain of having to teach a course on the statistics of sampling. The subject is full of tedious and fiddly algebra. The horror, the horror.

It would be helpful if those who feel inclined to opine about RA Fisher and randomisation read and understood what he wrote on the subject.

very nice talk by Michael Kammer on COVID-19 prognostic models, which involved a ‘deep dive’ into the pond life of modelling. Bottom line: “If looking for reliable models, don’t hold your breath.”

looks at median stratification for a single covariate. The second

considers adjustment for many covariates. Variance inflation factors are key.
