Just finished reading this novel by my brother-in-law and am impressed. Software development and maintenance as a relentless treadmill to which the programmers and coders are chained. A nice touch is that imagines a Britain in which Thanet is still an island.

The target population for the research question is the population of people who would satisfy the eligibility criteria. â Wrong x 2 1) The eligibility criteria define who doesnât come into the trial not who does. 2) We generalise from quite different trials to populations eg bioequivalence trials.

ââŠ.average family wealth per adult in the top wealth decile and those in the middle (fifth decile)â Strange. If you mean tenth, say so but then is the 5th tenth the middle of 10? If you really mean âdecileâ, there are 9 of them but nobody is âinâ any decile.

If you think that clinical trials use probability sampling you have never had the pain of having to teach a course on the statistics of sampling. The subject is full of tedious and fiddly algebra. The horror, the horror.
