First marathon in the books! I fell short of my time goals, which was a good lesson in goal setting. I wish I had gone into this one with no goals. Experience it with no expectations. It would have been more fun. I finished in about 4:30, and it's given me a lot to ponder! #running

Hard run today. 15 miles last Sunday felt great. 20 today, hard from the start. The training schedule doesn't always mesh well with life and today became about accepting that and slogging through at what felt like a disappointing pace, but was actually a good effort given circumstances. #running

Getting close to 400 miles on my Topo Specter 2s so with my first marathon in a month I got a fresh pair. While I'm sure they've lost some cushion, I'm super impressed with how they're holding up! I'm a sucker for new models and colorways, so it says a lot that I bought the exact same shoe! #running

Last year, I raced with the great Max King. And by raced, I mean I saw him start the race and he finished over an hour ahead of me. Max ran the Barkley this year. Unfortunately he was first out due to an injury, but I suspect he'll be back. So basically, I'm almost Barkley ready. It's math. #running

One month to my first #marathon! Long run today with an impromptu handstand/headstand attempt at mile 7! Stuck the landing, recovered, and ran another 8 miles! Progressive negative splits to the end! Feeling good! Probably a little sore tomorrow from the gymnastics, though! 🤣 #running

Learning experience half marathon today. It went well but could've gone better. I had plenty of fuel with me but my stomach wasn't having it. Felt uncomfortable and a little painful. #1 goal was 1:50 but I came in at 2:03. Ten minutes better than last year. Still need to dial in fueling. #running

I get stuck measuring #running progress purely by my fastest times. That's not the only place progress happens. Tackling tougher terrain, more vert, more time, or getting faster when you're tired... Those all count. Today's commute home was faster and felt better than usual. That's a win.

Had to get a selfie with this big ball of fire in the sky I spotted on my run home today. All of us Oregonians are looking like mole people, squinting and looking confused!

Had to get my mind right this morning while #running to work. Decided to do strides and after the first set, I knew it was going to be rough. I almost bailed on the speed work but decided to accept not hitting my target stride pace and keep at it. Glad I did. It was a better run than I expected.
