My heart goes out to Saliba and I hope he gets past this tournament exit. I hope he gets treated for his back injury and returns to his best. He was imperious in that French defence. Heads and shoulders above every player in his position. It’s insane that he did it with a back injury.

Umpemecano is a good defender. However, when you play next to William Saliba, he makes you look way better than you are. The same way Gabreil’s weaknesses are exposed without Saliba. Today was another evidence.

Hard work pays off. Spain worked hard and as a unit right to the final whistle clearing every cross and not giving anything away. They had team chemistry and kept composure even when France had momentum. Team work really does make the dream work.

Credit to Spain for getting to the final and killing a giant in France. I underestimated them in this tournament and predicted them to be knocked out in the quarterfinals.

Olise is the most overrated winger in world football. He really underwhelms and disappoints when he is under the brightest spotlight. This performance reminds me of his performance against PSG in the second leg in the champions league semifinal. He mentally checks out of games. Just keep fouling him

Spain just wanted it more. They had a plan that worked. In this tournament exit, there should be massive criticism of Olise, Dembele, Barcola and the fullbacks who didn’t show up for the team. Sometimes you just have to be willing to do the dirty work, even when you believe you are a star.

I can’t believe France is going out of this tournament in this fashion. The fact that as favourites, they allowed Spain to keep a clean sheet is just unforgivable. Some players were left on the pitch for far too long.

It’s a mystery to me why Dembele is still on the pitch.

In case tonight’s game goes into extra time, it is very important that Spain’s manager brings on the right substitutes, players who are willing to step up and take penalties as opposed to passing the responsibility to a center back who has played 120+ minutes of football.

Zubimendi isn’t deemed good enough to start a single game for his country at this World Cup yet he is expected to be the reliable option as a 6 going into next season for Arsenal. Rodri has played full 90 minutes in most games. They can’t even trust him to come on and see a game out.

Belgium didn’t try to take any risks in this game. Sitting so deep and not having any answers is quite negative. I can understand Morocco playing like that against France but this Spanish team is nowhere near.

Put KDB back in the lineup and lost. Belgium was never reaching their full potential with the manager’s incessant need to set them up that way.

I will never forgive Mikel Arteta for substituting Zubimendi instead of Merino in the champions league final. I know he would have had the self-esteem to take a penalty.
