Reading the Dying Earth stories by Jack Vance. An interesting thing about them is that the author had a minor character in each story become the main character in the next. It’s quite clever. Also these books inspired D&D’s magic system.

Something that bothers me with fantasy literature discourse lately is the bashing of Romantasy. My brother in Crom, some books are just written to be entertaining and Conan, Lovecraft’s works and Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser were published in cheap magazines. Tolkien’s books were the exception.

Part 2 of the 1948 Lionel 671 and 282 crane. Lionel based this engine on an experimental locomotive built by the Pennsylvania railroad that used steam turbine technology rather than conventional steam power.
