I first started bowling ~20 years ago at the Oakland Bowling Club in California. At the time we were in our 20s and the few other playing members were in their 70s. Moved to Edinburgh in '24 and joined the Dudley BC, it's been great, but it looks like new membership is a challenge across the board

It's really just a case of "How do you get people to actually try it for that first time" and the answer isn't as simple as "destroy videogames" or whatever, like how some people say it is in relation to youth/general people not trying sports

In #Edinburgh there are currently 43 bowling clubs but not that long ago there were over 60 and on average 1 is having to shut down every year or two I don't want to play my bowls anywhere else, so support for this club is support for my continued bowls, among other things

If I ever did rewatch it then that and doing a live commentary or reaction or whatever is the sort of thing that I think it might be fun to do on Twitch or YouTube etc. But I'm still not gonna do it. It's just a fun idea. That world is a world from a past life. I'm a social worker now

Random unrelated thing but I've still not played the MGS3 remake because even though the original is totally one of my GOAT I just can't help but feel as though it's better in my memory than in reality I'm sure the remakes fine, and fun enough...

Idk how i feel about Infinite Wealth. On the one hand i love it as I've loved the whole series but on the other hand the story was better & more interesting in the previous game & also I prefer the real time combat of the older games to the turn based JRPG combat. This week (ok, last 5 days since this post) I've mainly been playing PGATour2k25, Undisputed, Cygni, and Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth. Not much change really What have you been playing?

Oh, also, my boss grew up on the same street as the Scottish bowler in this video, which is fun. It's their one connection to bowls, the guy's a local hero

Last month I downloaded Undisputed on PSPlus thinking "I'll give it a go, but probably just a wee go to see what it's like, not expecting to get into it" and now I'm on the verge of the Platinum trophy and I've been really enjoying playing online ranked fights etc

I'm really bad at keeping in touch with people & I always have been & it always gets misinterpreted as me not wanting to be in touch with them when in reality it's just me not wanting to be a burden, overbearing, or in contact too much, & I really do want to be in touch but it's anxiety/autism

We were 9 shots down and then the rain came and you may or may not remember a few weeks ago when I said "I'm not a rain player" after it was raining before a final I was due in But this evening I was stepping up to the mat with us 3 or even 4 down in the rain & winning us the shot That's progress!
