My mum was 20 when England won the World Cup in 1966. She's not a big football fan, but really got into this tournament. Even stayed up to watch the Mexico game. I hope I get to see England win it one day.

That Ngoy red card is interesting. I think refs have been given direction to allow more physicality, not giving soft free kicks, etc. That Ngoy "shirt pull" was soft. It didnt pull the striker down. The striker knew what he was doing.

France vs Senegal tonight. Takes me back to the 2002 WC. A 19 year old me, starting a new job on the day of the opening game. It was a job that you needed to clock in and out. Not wanting to miss the game, I clocked in, drove home, watched the football and drove back 8 hours later to clock out.

The hydration break in this Saudi vs Uruguay game was over 4 mins long I get players need to take on fluids, but 4 minutes is a long time, and coaches shouldnt be discussing tactical instructions with players. Its a drinks break, not a tactical break. It should be for player welfare, nothing else
