Somewhere within #Undertone is a great movie waiting to emerge. Sadly, it never does. Despite a terrific leading performance from Nina Kiri, the film isn’t as scary as it likes to think and comes across as plodding. For something that promises much, it delivers so little.

#Diamanti (Diamonds) is a fun Italian comedy drama that displays the strength of women and the stresses they face daily. While the film is good and enjoyable, it does become heavy going at times. The performances are good and emotional though, powering the film through.

#Howtomakeakilling is an enjoyably dark,witty, black comedy drama that almost pulls it off. Glen Powell is wonderfully cast in the lead role and cements his place as a leading man. Sadly, the film lags in the middle and near the end and loses steam. Still good though.

Gabriel Mascaro’s #TheBlueTrail is a compelling exploration of ageism in the future. Mascara captures the essence of being young at heart while rebelling against the prejudice of ageing. Compelling, intimate, and jarring, the film is a reflective piece of contemporary cinema.

#TheBlueTrail is a heartwarming, gentle but sinister look at a futuristic,alternative way to treat our elderly. The film is handled with grace, the subject is handled well and the comedy lightens the tone. I’m with the mischievous protagonist all the way! Enjoyable and fun.

Rod Blackhurst’s #Dolly is a visceral, twisted and eye-watering horror! The film oozes a retro 60s horror vibe complete with the doll mask-wearing psycho. Although its creative choices are grating, it’s an edgy, unnerving, and uncomfortable watch with some deliciously fun gore!

John Patton Ford’s #HowToMakeAKilling is a fun and breezy slice of killer cinema. As always, Glen Powell expertly leads the stellar ensemble cast through this compelling but safe knife twisting caper. Fun, quirky, and immersive, this rags to riches story has a killer pulse.

#Dolly is a decent enough throwback to the slasher movies of the 1970s & 1980s. A grainy, 35mm vibe to the look of the film does wonders for it. However, there are glaring things that let the film down and a structure that doesn’t suit it. Fun and gory though.

Lord & Millers #ProjectHailMary is a masterful exploration of friendship and humanity. Ryan Gosling & Rocky the alien are the ultimate duo. Heartfelt, hilarious, gloriously vibrant and narratively humbling, this film is out of this world. This is project brilliance!

Ryan Gosling, take a bow. #ProjectHailMary is one of the finest movies I’ve seen in a while and lays down a marker for one of the movies of the year. A human story wrapped around a sci-fi film, it holds our hearts until the final frame. I loved it from start to end. Project WOW!
